Fund set up

A fund has been set up at Farmers State Bank for Tee Turner, who is battling Lou Garricks disease.

CCLC to meet

The Concerned Citizens of Lincoln County will meet Thurs., June 21, 6:30 p.m. at the Lincoln County Library. Guest speaker will be Lincoln County Tax Commissioner, Brenda Danner. Everyone is welcome to come and be a part of the CCLC.

Mobile mammography

The University Mobile Mammography Unit will be at the Lincoln County Health Department on June 19 and July 31.

Screening mammograms for women age 40 and above are usually covered by private insurance and Medicare. Call the health department at 359-3154 for more information

GED/Adult classes

Augusta Technical College and Lincoln County Family Connection are offering GED/Adult Literacy classes on Mon., Tues., and Thurs. from 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. and Wed., from 8:30 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. For more information, please call 706-359-3425 or 706-359-5769.

VBS at Morningside

Morningside Baptist Church will host Vacation Bible School Mon., June 25 - Fri., June 29 from 7 - 9 p.m. for children kindergarten through sixth grade.

Come join them as they take a journey to the shores of the sea of Galilee, where you will experience life as it was in the days of Jesus.

Pageant June 23

Pleasant Grove CME Church will have a Little Miss and Little Mrs. Pageant on Saturday, June 23 at 5 p.m.

The event is sponsored by the Usher Board. Rev. Rosa Williams, pastor of Ever Faithful Church in Augusta, will be the guest speaker. Everyone is invited to attend. Rev. Walter Clayton is the pastor.

Volunteers needed

The American Cancer Society is seeking volunteers for their Reach to Recovery program in Lincolnton. The Reach for Recovery program provides information and support for women facing breast cancer through someone who has already been there herself.

The American Red Cross will certify reach volunteers on Sat., June 16 at their office from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. If you are one year post-treatment breast cancer survivor, and are interested in becoming a Reach to Recovery volunteer, call Summer Garrison, mission delivery manager, at 706- 731-9900.

Family meeting

There will be a meeting at the home of Joe Louis and Gwen Hearst on June 16 at 6 p.m.

Camp fire stories

Be Afraid! Do you like Ghost Stories by the camp fire? Because we have the event for you. Elijah Clark State Park invites you to join us as we sit around the fire and share some of our favorite spooky tales. Come to the Assembly Shelter on Saturday, June 16th at 8:30 p.m. Bring your camp chair and join us as Marilyn Grau leads us in Bone chilling tales on a warm evening!

Sons and Daughters of Bethlehem Society anniversary observance will be held at Newberry Missionary Baptist Church on Thurs., June 28 at 6 p.m. with Mrs. April White, first lady of Newberry Missionary Baptist Church, as the guest speaker. Rev. Willie J. White is pastor.

Father's Day prog.

Mulberry CME Church will be honoring fathers on Sunday, June 17 at 10:30 a.m.

The special guest for the morning worship service will be Bro. Tim "Minnesota Fatz" Snell of radio station 96.3 FM, Augusta, Georgia. The Rev. Larry Fryer is the pastor.

Co-ed softball

Deadline to sign up for adult co-ed softball at the Lincoln County Recreation Department is June 15. To sign up, please call Kathie or Marshall at 706-359-2236.

Legal assistance

Georgia Legal Services Program (GLSP) will be in Lincoln County at The Lincoln Center, 160 May Avenue, to meet with seniors wanting free non-criminal legal help, on a firstcome, first-serve basis. They will meet on Mon., June 11 11:15 a.m. - 1:15 p.m.

If you are unable to meet with them this day, you may call 1-800-248- 6697 to talk with them during normal business hours.

Kids' Camp

New Hope will be hosting its annual Kids' Camp June 15 - 16 for kids ages 4 - 14. The hours will be Fri., 6 - 9:30 p.m., and Sat., 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. A Lock-In will also be held for kids ages 10 - 14.

Yard sale June 16

Savannah Heights Living Center, 204 Holiday Rd., McCormick, will have a huge yard sale Sat., June 16 from 7 a.m. - 12 noon. They will have miscellaneous items, clothing, dishes, pictures and household items. All proceeds will go to employee assistance fund.

Pool now open

The pool is now open at the Lincoln County Recreation Department. Hours are Tues. - Sat., 12 noon - 6 p.m. Cost is $2 per person.
