Inez Hall honored with retirement celebration Mrs. Inez Strother Hall was honored with a retirement celebration on May 18, 2007, by the Lincoln County Board of Education for eleven years as a bus driver for Lincoln County Schools plus 23 years as a bus driver and nutrition assistant with Wilkes County School for a total of 34 years. Members of her family attending the celebration at Lincoln County Elementary School were: husband, Lewis Hall; children, Tom, Teresa and Sandra; mother, Mrs. Annie Kate Strother; and grandchildren Her family and friends are very proud of Inez's faithful service to young children and teenagers over these years of dedicated service in two public school systems. She has driven many miles and made many bus stops the last 34 years delivering school children to and from school. Inez was always fair and firm with her students, requiring them to respect her, the bus driver, and other children on the bus, and themselves. She always kept a clean bus, always made sure her bus was in good mechanical condition, and was fueled and ready to go into service daily. Inez made many field trips throughout her 34 years as a bus driver in addition to her regular bus route. To name a few places, she carried students to Atlanta, Rome, Macon, Savannah, Augusta, Athens, Gainesville, Marietta, Carrolton, Columbus and even to the North Georgia mountains. She has done it all by going with the students to 4-H, FFA, FHA and cheerleading and band outings at Rock Eagle, Lake Jackson, Tybee Island and Jekyll Island camps. She has gone to Six Flags, zoos in both Atlanta and Columbia, South Carolina; the lakes and the ocean, the flat lands and mountains all in a school bus with the students to learn and have fun. Inez enjoyed all the team sports carrying all of them to their competitions and she was always their best supporter. She is a great example of all our bus drivers in our public schools in Lincoln County and Wilkes County, and all over Georgia. School bus drivers are great people, men and women, dedicated to students. They are the first to see the students and the last to see them each school day. They help set the students' minds for learning and rest. A great thank you goes out to Inez and all our bus drivers. |
