Bennie Daniel Thurmond, Sr.

Mr. Bennie Daniel Thurmond, Sr., 65 of Crook Rd. died Sat., May 19, 2007 at University Hospital, Augusta.

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m., Mon., May 21, 2007 at Hephzibah Baptist Church Cemetery with Revs. Bobby Renew and Glenn Hendley officiating.

Mr. Thurmond, a lifelong resident of Lincoln County and was the son of the late Hugh B. and Addie Florence Raffini Thurmond. He was a retired heavy equipment operator having worked with C.E. Minerals many years and then with Dogwood Quarry.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Rachel Wellmaker Thurmond; daughters: Susan Courtright, and husband, Jason Judy Cooke, and husband, Roger; son: Bennie Daniel Thurmond, Jr., and fiance' Jennifer, all of Lincolnton; brothers: Clark Thurmond, of Lincolnton, Billy Thurmond, of Hartwell, and Frank Thurmond, of Hartwell; a sister: Linda T. Cox, of Lincolnton; grandchildren: Robbie Freeman, Amanda Poss, Jason Courtright, Jr., Wyatt and Wesley Cooke, and Dylan Courtright.

Beggs Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
