Col. George Lawson Ball

Col. George Lawson Ball, U.S. Army retired, 83, of Plantation Circle, entered into rest Thursday, May 17, 2007 at his residence.

Graveside services, with full military honors, was held at Arlington National Cemetery on June 19, at 9 a.m.

Col. Ball, a native of Chester County, Tenn., was retired from the U.S. Army after 34 years of service. During his career, he served in World War II, Korean Conflict and Vietnam. Following his retirement, he taught special education in the Richmond County School System. Mr. Ball was an avid tennis player.

Survivors include his wife, Penny Krause Ball; three daughters, Missy Ball, Kitty Ball and Meg Ball, all of Lincolnton; and a son, David Ball of Lincolnton.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Prader - Willi Syndrome Foundation, Inc., 3577 A Chamblee Tucker Rd. #173, Atlanta, GA 30341.
