Post 194 to host Memorial Day service May 28

American Legion Post 194, Lincoln County Government, and the City of Lincolnton are set to host a Memorial Day service at the Lincoln County Courthouse to pay tribute to all United States servicemen, past and present.

The ceremony will take place in front of the courthouse beginning at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 28.

The guest speaker for the occasion is Command Sergeant Major (CSM) Jim Hussey (USA Ret.), regional representative for United States Senator Saxby Chambliss.

In addition to CSM Hussey, the Memorial Day service will also feature music performed by an ensemble from the LCHS Red Devil Pride Band, a flag detail provided by the Harlem High School ROTC Unit, and a 21- gun salute.

In the event of rain, the service will be held in the courtroom on the second floor of the courthouse.

Refreshments will be served following the observance.
