Myrtice Lynch Myrtice Lynch, 97, of Putnam County, entered into rest Friday, April 13, 2007 at the Lynch Homeplace. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 21 at Providence Baptist Church in Shady Dale with Rev. Ed Westbrook officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Ms. Lynch was born August 9, 1909 to Robert Emmett Lynch and Emma Adra Landcaster Lynch. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church. She attended Salem, a oneroom schoolhouse in Putnam County before graduating from Monticello High School. She later graduated from Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville and received a masters degree in math from Columbia University in New York City. She spent her life teaching math beginning in Lincoln County in the early 1930's and later moving to Girls High in Atlanta, O'Keefe High School in Atlanta and ending as the math coor- dinator for the Atlanta School System until her retirement. She was preceded in death by her parents and seven siblings. Survivors include seven nephews and nieces, Emily Farmer of Louisville, Frank Cook of Memphis, Tenn., Hal Lynch, Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla., Larry Lynch of Monticello, R.E. Lynch, III of Salt Lake City, Utah, Jane Cochrane of Greensboro, N.C., and Lois Karcher of Darien, Conn. Pallbearers were her great-nephews, Frank Cook, Jr., David Beard, Steve Kittner, Hal Lynch, III, Bill Lynch, Bob Lynch, Charles Cooper, Tommy Lynch, Jim Lynch and Buddy Cain. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Providence Baptist Church, c/o Rev. Ed Westbrook, 1109 Church Street, Shady Dale, GA 31085 Jordan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. |
