Abraham Hirsch Wengrow Mr. Abraham Hirsch Wengrow, 82, of Lincolnton, entered into rest on Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at University Hospital, Augusta. Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 26 at Magnolia Cemetery with Rabbi David Surill. A memorial service was held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 26 at The Lincoln Center. Mr. Wengrow, son of the late Joseph and Annie Wengrow, was a native of Williston, S.C. but later moved toWashington, Ga. Shortly after graduating from Washington High School in 1941, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943-46. After marrying Ettie Rose Shatz in January 1946, they moved to Lincolnton and established Goldman and Wengrow, "Lincolnton's Oldest and Largest Department Store." More recently, he has been the recipient of many honors such as First Grand Marshal of the Lincolnton Holiday Parade 1996 and 2006 Business of the Year Award by Lincolnton Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Wengrow was a member of the Adas Yeshurun Synagogue, the American Legion #194, VFW-Post 3200 in Augusta, and the Lincolnton Masonic Lodge #354. Survivors include a daughter, Rita W. Hussey of Lincolnton; three sons, Joe Wengrow of Grayson, Ga., Michael Wengrow and Andy Wengrow, both of Lincolnton; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers were members of the American Legion # 194, Sons of the American Legion Squadron # 194, and Jack Smalley, Rev. Addison Belangia, Paul Rentz, Alan Ivey, John Gibson, Dr. Robert Williams, Mike McCombs, and Eddie Turner. Contributions may be made to: A.H.
