Suspect still at large in armed robbery incident

A local merchant was robbed at knife point Friday, April 27.

According to Lincolnton Police Chief Jim Justice, after entering the Sunkissed Tanning Salon on S. Washington Street at about 11 a.m., a white male pulled a knife on manager Amanda Volner and demanded money. He was given an undisclosed amount of cash and fled through the back door.

"The suspect is about six-feet tall, with a slim build and brown eyes," said Justice.

He went on to add that Jerry Quarles, the owner of the business, is offering a $5,000 cash reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the robber.

The matter is being investigated by the police department and the GBI.

Anyone with any information pertaining to this incident is asked to call the Lincolnton Police Department at 706-359-4121.

Earlier in the month, Volner reported that someone entered the tanning salon during the night of Tuesday, April 17, and vandalized the building and equipment. The damage was estimated at $3,000.

This case is under investigation as well.

In other items of information, Chief Justice indicated that the following incidents occurred recently in the city:

.. Carol Williams reported that an unknown person(s) entered the Lincoln Wellness Center during business hours and stole a Nikon digital camera valued at $2,000.

..Crystal Andrews reported that the rear window on the driver's side of her 1998 Jeep Cherokee was broken out while the vehicle was parked at her residence on May Avenue.

.. Keith R. Prince reported that an unknown person(s) entered his 1998 Dodge Dakota while it was parked at Golden Pantry and removed a Razor Motorola cell phone valued at $560.

.. Daisy Evans, a Golden Pantry employee, reported that an unknown person in a burgundy truck, pulling a white boat, drove off without paying for $40.89 worth of gasoline.

.. Delane Wade of Radio Shack reported that an unknown person(s) stole an LG cell phone valued at $300.

.. Christie Bryan, a teacher at LCMS, reported that $300 in cash was removed from her purse while it was in her desk at school. A juvenile has been charged with theft by taking in connection with the case.

All of the incidents listed above are still under investigation.
