Community Calendar Parks to be honored Price's Grove Baptist Church will honor its pastor, Rev. Jackson Parks on Sun., May 6 at 2 p.m. Guest minister will be Rev. Tonita Cody and Parks Grove F.B.H. The American Cancer Society now offers its Road to Recovery program to cancer patients in Lincoln County who need transportation to and from their treatments, free of charge. Drivers are trained society volunteers who pick up patients at their homes, take them to their treatment and drive them back home. Feeding volunteers "Because Cancer Never Sleeps" team Winkie, Blinkie and Nod - Newberry Baptist Church, has been given the challenge to feed the many dedicated volunteers, captains and the Relay for Life planning committee on Mon., May 7, bank night, at The Lincoln Center. Team captain Sherman Norman accepted this challenge. A delicious buffet-style meal is planned for members who attend. Let's prepare to donate $6 to cover the cost of the meal. Desserts will cost extra. Please, purchase your meal ticket as you sign in. All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. Ivey fund set up A fund for Taffy Ivey has been established at Farmers State Bank to aid with medical expenses due to an illness she's been dealing with the past two years. Breakfast for ladies The men of Newberry Missionary Baptist Church will prepare breakfast for the ladies on Mother's Day, May 13. Book sale May 5 Friends of the Library's first semiannual book sale will begin Mon., April 30, in the Dova Partridge Annex at the library and will continue through Sat., May 5, with additional books on the lawn. Golf tourney A 4-Man Scramble Golf Tournament will be held Sat., June 2, 8:30 a.m. at Rocky Branch Golf Course. The community is encouraged to participate. Cost is $150 per team.
