Willis, Cunningham honored by groomsmen with party

The Captain's room of Savannah Lakes Resort in McCormick, South Carolina was the setting of a party honoring Benton Willis and Keith Cunningham on Saturday evening, April 14.

Hosts for the occasion were Chad Aycock of Thomson; Phillip Broadwater of Evans; Will Hudson of Thomson; Earl Tawzer of Washington; and Wes Butler; Michael Cunningham; Ty Davis; Johnny Freeland; Mike Martin; Ben McWhorter; Jim Rowland; John Welch; and Todd Willgus, all of Lincolnton. For the occasion the brideelect wore a casual green and white floral dress with cap sleeves.

As guests arrived, they signed a frame matted copy of the invitation. It was presented to the prospective bridegroom by his hosts as a memory for the evening.

The Captain's room was beautifully decorated for the festive occasion. Ficus fig trees decorated in white lights adorned the perimeter of the room. Round guest tables covered with white cloths filled the room, and each table was centered with balloons and pictures of Miss Willis and Mr. Cunningham throughout their courtship.

Guests enjoyed heavy hors d'oeuvres of shrimp gumbo, chicken fingers, sandwiches, fruits and vegetables, chocolate mint balls and miniature lemon cakes while they were entertained with music provided by the DJ.

Miss Willis and Mr. Cunningham presented each host a silver beverage opener.

Over 150 Lincolnton and out-oftown family and friends attended the celebration.
