Austin Goldman went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, and five RBIs to lead the LCHS Red Devils to a 17- 3 victory over the Hancock Central Bulldogs.
Also spearheading the offensive attack were Alex Bradford (2-for-3), Kiece Crite (2-for-4), and David Lee (2-for-3). Curry Colvin added a three RBI double to the mix.
Tyler Beale picked up the win for LCHS with relief help from Crafton Reed and Goldman. All combined, the three Red Devils pitched a two-hitter and struck out 15 Bulldogs.
During the first inning, Lincoln County jumped out on walks to Bradford and Beale. Crite then tripled to right field to give the Devils a 2-0 lead. Goldman followed with a double, pushing Crite across the plate. He later scored himself on an Aiken Davis grounder to third.
Trey Bailey led off the second inning with a double. He traveled to third on a botched pick-off move and went on to score on a bunt single by Bradford.
In the third inning, Tristan Wynn and Josh Hollimon singled, with Wynn crossing the plate on a single to left field by Lee.
The Devils added two more runs to the tally in the fifth inning. Hollimon was hit by a pitch and Davis reached on an error. Lee singled in both runners.
LCHS put the game away in the sixth with nine runs. Crite singled and captured second on a throwing error. Goldman hit an inside the park homer, clearing the bases. Wynn then reached on an error, followed by walks earned by Daniel McAlister and Reed, loading the bases. Next at bat was Colvin, who doubled to left field scoring all three runners.
Two more walks went to Dalton Tankersley and Bradford, and the bases were loaded again. Jonathan Grabb walked to force in Colvin, and Goldman followed with a two-run single, scoring the final two runs of the game.
"I'm pleased with the improvements the team has made since the beginning of the year," stated Coach Billy Beale. "We seem to be getting a little better each game, which is what we've been working toward."
The victory over Hancock Central puts the Red Devils' record at 4-5 overall and 3-2 in region play.
LCHS's next home game will be against Glascock County on Friday, April 5, beginning at 5 p.m. at the Curry Colvin Recreation Complex.
