Ella Jane Beard

Mrs. Ella Jane Beard, 55, of Bethany Church Road, entered into rest on Saturday, March 31, 2007 at the Medical College of Georgia.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 3 at Ebenezer Baptist Church with Rev. Fred Perriman officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Beard was the daughter of the late Mrs. Thelma Austin Brown and Mr. George Brown of Lincolnton. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior at an early age and united with Ebenezer Baptist Church serving as the church secretary for many years until her health failed.

Survivors include her devoted husband, Paul Beard; one son, Demond T. Beard of Lincolnton; one daughter, Naquae B. (Marcus) Cannady of Lincolnton; a niece reared in the home as a daughter, Angie Coppin of Lincolnton; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Beard of McCormick, S.C.; three grandchildren, Wayneshia Gilchrist, Tevin Beard and Isaiah Cannady; two great-nephews raised in the home as grandchildren, Cordarryl Coppin and Jeremy Latimer; two brothers, Charles T. (Mary Lee) Brown and Joseph (Trudy) Brown, both of Lincolnton; three sisters, Eula Pearl Martin of Charlotte, N.C., Amy Jones of Lincolnton and Gail Brown of Greenwood, S.C.; a father-in-law, Roy Beard, Sr. of Lincolnton; three uncles, Jack Norman, James Watson, both of Greenwood, and Charlie Pinckney of Philadelphia, Pa.; two sisters-inlaw, Shirley (Willie) Jones of Lincolnton, and Gail Beard of Augusta, Ga.; six brothers-in-law, Roy (Dorothy) Beard, Jr., Charles Beard, Racy Beard, Vincent Beard, Leon Beard and Norris Andrews, all of Lincolnton; two God sons, Jeffery Brown and Dominique Mason; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
