Mishaps with mail delivery
To the Editor

TO THE EDITOR

A very nice lady called today to inform me that my mail had mistakenly been delivered to her address. My home is over seven miles away from hers, and yet my mail was delivered to her home. Thank goodness for nice people, because this mail was important and time-sensitive. But since I routinely receive other people's mail in my box, it hardly comes as a surprise.

One can't help but wonder how many people in Lincoln County are waiting for medication that are late (or lost) in the mail? How many are waiting for checks, payments, or vouchers that were delivered to the wrong address? How many are looking for important legal or business correspondence that is a week overdue? And how many, like me, receive other people's mail week in and week out, all year long?

The handling, or potential mishandling of personal mail is a serious matter. It may be time for some within the Lincoln County postal system to start taking the job a little more seriously.
