LWREA to meet

The Lincoln-Wilkes Retired Educators Association (LWREA) will meet at 11 a.m. on Thurs., April 12 at Pizza Hut, 1008 E. Robert Toombs in Washington. All retired educators are invited to attend. Frances F. Zellars is president.

Mobile mammography

The University Mobile Mammography Unit will be at the Lincoln County Health Department on April 17 and May 29.

Screening mammograms for women age 40 and above are usually covered by private insurance and Medicare. Call the health department at 359-3154 for more information

Candlelight program

The Women's Mission of Ebenezer Baptist Church will hold a candlelight worship program on Sun., April 15 at 2 p.m. Special music will be provided by the Perriman Singers. Rev. Fred Perriman is pastor.

Signs available

Relay for Life signs are now available, for a donation, to all who would like to place one in your yard or in front of your business.

Sunday singing

St. Paul United Methodist Church will have a fifth Sunday night singing on Sun., April 29 at 7 p.m. with Kenneth and Martha Norris of Thomson, Ga. Everyone is invited.

Ivey fund set up

A fund has been established at Farmers State Bank to aid Taffy Ivey who was recently diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Donations may be made at the bank, the night deposit or by mailing to: Taffy Ivey Fund, P.O. Box 99, Lincolnton, GA 30817.

Workshop April 7

Tabernacle Choir will sponsor a workshop on Sat., April 7. Registration will be from 8:30 - 9 a.m.; the workshop ministry will be from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Registration fees will be taken day of workshop. Everyone is invited. Rev. DaNang A. Rockett is pastor.

Passion Play First Assembly of God will present an Easter "Passion Play" depicting the life of Christ on Good Friday, April 6 at 7:00 p.m. and Easter Sunday, April 8 at 6:00 p.m. There will be great music and lots of drama. Breakfast buffet

The First Saturday Breakfast Buffet at Faith Temple will be held Sat., April 7 from 7 - 10 a.m. Cost is $5 for adults, $3 for 11 and under.

Choir anniversary

The Lincoln Mass Choir will celebrate its 20th anniversary Sun., April 22 at First Baptist Church beginning at 3 p.m.

Crappie fish off

Fishing Creek will host its first Crappie Fish Off April 21. Registration fee is $5 per person. Fishing be- gins at 7 a.m. and ends at 7 p.m. Prizes will be awarded to the largest three crappies. Call 706-359-2720 to register and with any questions.

A drawing will be held at 8 p.m. for several nice items. Tickets may be purchased in advance for $5 each.

Board meetings

The regular meetings of the Lincoln County Board of Elections and Voter Registration will be held on the fourth Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. The meetings will be held at the Board of Elections, The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., Lincolnton, GA 30817, any changes to the schedule dates or alternate dates for meetings occurring on holidays will be posted.

Homecoming services

Lincolnton United Methodist Church will be celebrating homecoming on Sun., April 22 at 10:30 a.m. A barbecue covered dish lunch will follow. Revival services will continue through Wednesday night, April 25.

Benefit barbecue

A benefit barbecue chicken plate sale will be held for the Travis Ivey family to help with medical expenses due to Taffy's illness over the past two years.

Plates will cost $6 each and may be picked up at the City Fire Department on April 7 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

ACS offers RtoR prog.

The American Cancer Society now offers its Road to Recovery program to cancer patients in Lincoln County who need transportation to and from their treatments, free of charge. Drivers are trained society volunteers who pick up patients at their homes, take them to their treatment and drive them back home.

Spring bird walk

A Spring Bird Walk will be held at Mistletoe State Park April 21 from 9 a.m. until noon. Meet outside the office of the park.

Board meeting

The executive board of the Lincoln County Food Pantry will meet at St. Paul United Methodist Church Thurs., April 19 at 7 p.m. Rev. David Jenkins is pastor.

TIA/NAACP to meet

T.I.A./NAACP will meet at Ebenezer Baptist Church April 9 at 7:30 p.m. Your input is needed, please try to attend.

Manna Truck delivery

Golden Harvest Food Bank's Manna Truck will be distributing food, paper goods, and cleaning supplies from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church on Sat., April 7. Items will be distributed on a firstcome, first-serve basis.

Sunrise service

Anthony Chapel UMC will have a joint Easter sunrise service and fellowship breakfast Sun., April 8. Sunrise service will start at 7 a.m. with breakfast to follow at 8 a.m. Everyone is invited to attend.

Easter egg hunt

Savannah Heights Living Center, 204 Holiday Rd., McCormick, S.C., will have an Easter egg hunt Sat., April 7 at 3 p.m. Please bring family and friends. Prizes will be given away.

Mystery weekend

Mistletoe State Park will have a fun-filled murder mystery weekend April 20-22, beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday with the murderer being revealed at Sunday's breakfast. Cost is $99 per person and registration is limited to 25. To register call the park at 706-541-0321, deadline is Fri., April 14.

Sunrise celebration

An Easter Sunrise Celebration will be held Sun., April 8, 7 a.m. at the Home Cafe Courtyard in Lincolnton.

Spring retreat

A spring retreat celebrating the Bride of Christ will be held at Camp Daniel Marshall April 13 - 14 at 7 p.m. Come experience the Jewish wedding traditions and find out how Christ fulfilled them all for you.

St. Paul United Methodist Church will hold Sunrise Services in back of the church on Easter Sun., April 8 at 7 a.m. Everyone is invited. Breakfast will follow.

Luncheon April 11

Savannah River Christian Women's Connection will meet Wed., April 11 at Tara Country Club. The program begins at 12:30 p.m. and will feature Cindy Stanley, singer and Kim Finley, pianist, both from Greenwood, before our speaker Mary Jane Miller shares how the road signs of her life showed she needed to make a U-turn so her life and her relationship with God would be going the right direction.

Lunch is served during our programs and we will have Salmon Nicoise Salad - mixed greens with blanched green beans, tomatoes, black olives, diced boiled eggs and green onions - crowned with cold poached salmon dressed in balsamic vinaigrette. Chef's salad may be substituted if you wish. The cost is $12.00.

The Sons of American Legion, Squadron 194 will meet April 10, 2007 at 7:30 p.m. at the post home. All members are asked to please attend this important meeting. This is the election of officers for 2007-2008. Bring a new member with you.

Hat Show April 7

The Mulberry CME Church Board of Evangelism will have its annual Hat Show April 7 at 4 p.m. There will be two hats given away. You may purchase a ticket from any member of the board for a $1 donation. Everyone is invited to come out and support the board of evangelism and enjoy an afternoon of hats in fashion! Rev. Free aerobics class

Tabernacle Baptist Church, Hwy. 220 W., will offer free aerobics classes every Monday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 10 a.m. You don't have to be a member to attend the classes. Rev. DaNang A. Rockett is pastor.

Gospel night May 2

The Lincolnton-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce will present the 13th Annual Southern Gospel Night Wed., May 2, 7 p.m. at Elijah Clark State Park.

Apply for honorarium

High school seniors may apply for an honorarium sponsored by the Lincoln Wilkes Retired Educators Association. The students must plan to attend a college or vocational school for the 2007 - 2008 academic year and write a 250 - 500 word essay on the topic "The Importance of Furthering My Education."

Please provide a cover page with your name, date, name of high school and the name of college or vocational school you plan to attend. Deadline for essay to be submitted to your high school counselor is Fri., March 30.

Easter service

Post 194 to meet

The American Legion Post 194 will meet April 17, 2007. Executive board is at 7 p.m., with general membership at 7:30 p.m. All members are asked to please attend for the election of officers.

CCLC to meet

The Concerned Citizens of Lincoln County will meet Thurs., April 19, 6:30 p.m. at the Lincoln County Library. Everyone is welcome to come and be a part of the CCLC.
