Mini golf tourney

Elijah Clark State Park invites you to bring the entire family to the Masters Week Parent/Child Mini Golf Tournament. Each team consisting of one parent and one child will play 18 holes of mini golf. The tournament will be held Wed., April 4. Tee times are available between 1 and 3 p.m. Prizes will be awarded to the top finishers, best-dressed team, longest traveled, and the first hole in one. Cost is $2 to $3 per child; we ask that you register ahead of time to get your tee time. Entry fee includes use of golf clubs, balls, greens and there will be complimentary hot dogs and soft drinks.

Mobile mammography

The University Mobile Mammography Unit will be at the Lincoln County Health Department on April 17 and May 29.

Screening mammograms for women age 40 and above are usually covered by private insurance and Medicare. Call the health department at 359-3154 for more information Memorial trail ride Signs available Relay for Life signs are now available, for a donation, to all who would like to place one in your yard or in front of your business.

GED/Adult classes

Augusta Technical College and Lincoln County Family Connection are offering GED/Adult Literacy classes on Mon., Tues., and Thurs. from 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. and Wed., from 8:30 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. For more information, please call 706-359-3425 or 706-359-5769.

The Terry Tankersley Memorial Trail Ride at Bussey Point Recreation Area in Lincolnton will be held Sat., March 31. Ride horseback on your own from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. through the 2,500 acres of wilderness bound by 32 miles of shoreline. Cost is $5 per horse. Concession will be available for lunch on the point on Saturday only, no dogs please. Call the chamber office at 706-359-7970 for directions and more information. Primitive camping is also available.

Board meetings

The regular meetings of the Lincoln County Board of Elections and Voter Registration will be held on the fourth Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. The meetings will be held at the Board of Elections, The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., Lincolnton, GA 30817, any changes to the schedule dates or alternate dates for meetings occurring on holidays will be posted.

Homecoming services

Lincolnton United Methodist Church will be celebrating homecoming on Sun., April 22 at 10:30 a.m. A barbecue covered dish lunch will follow. Revival services will continue through Wednesday night, April 25.

Installation service

St. Luke Baptist Church will hold its installation service of Rev. Alvin Rivers on Palm Sunday, April 1, 2007 at 3 p.m. at The Lincoln Center. Rev. Favors and the Springfield Baptist Church family will be in charge of the service.

Benefit barbecue

A benefit barbecue chicken plate sale will be held for the Travis Ivey family to help with medical expenses due to Taffy's illness over the past two years.

Plates will cost $6 each and may be picked up at the City Fire Department on April 7 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Golf tournament

The Lincoln County Athletic Boosters Club Golf Tournament will be held March 31 at Rocky Branch Golf Club. Contact Andy Wengrow for more information 706-359-1453. A $1,000 cash give-away for the closest to the pin.

Womens conference

Faith Tabernacle Church, 249 Faith Lane in Lincolnton, will sponsor a women's conference March 30, 7 p.m. and March 31, 8:30 a.m. The conference will consist of three individual workshops on finances, health and spiritual growth. Keynote speaker will be Bishop Gracy Jackson of Augusta.

There is no cost for this conference.

Prog. at Pleasant Grove

Pleasant Grove C.M.E. Church will celebrate Men and Women Day Sun., April 1 at 2 p.m. Rev. Neal and the Harmony Baptist Church family will be special guests.

ACS offers RtoR prog.

The American Cancer Society now offers its Road to Recovery program to cancer patients in Lincoln County who need transportation to and from their treatments, free of charge. Drivers are trained society volunteers who pick up patients at their homes, take them to their treatment and drive them back home.

Spring revival

Anthony Chapel, 3619 Metasville Road, will hold Spring Revival April 1 - 4 at 7:30 p.m. nightly with Rev. Gary Dean as guest speaker. Special music nightly with Dudley Bryant - music; Susan Bryant - pianist.

Workshop April 7

Tabernacle Choir will sponsor a workshop on Sat., April 7. Registration will be from 8:30 - 9 a.m.; the workshop ministry will be from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Registration fees will be taken day of workshop. Everyone is invited. Rev. DaNang A. Rockett is pastor.

Passion Play First Assembly of God will present an Easter "Passion Play" depicting the life of Christ on Good Friday, April 6 at 7:00 p.m. and Easter Sunday, April 8 at 6:00 p.m. There will be great music and lots of drama. TIA Helping Hand

The original Clothes Closet, located on Firetower Rd., has reopened, now as T.I.A. Community Helping Hand. All proceeds will go toward the Lincoln County Food Pantry and emergency needs of the community, 50/ 50.

St. Paul United Methodist Church will hold Sunrise Services in back of the church on Easter Sun., April 8 at 7 a.m. Everyone is invited. Breakfast will follow.

An Easter Sunrise Celebration will be held Sun., April 8, 7 a.m. at the Home Cafe Courtyard in Lincolnton.

Spring retreat

A spring retreat celebrating the Bride of Christ will be held at Camp Daniel Marshall April 13 - 14 at 7 p.m. Come experience the Jewish wedding traditions and find out how Christ fulfilled them all for you.

Sunrise Service

The county-wide Easter Sunrise Service, sponsored by the Lincoln County Sunday School Union, will be held at Newberry Missionary Baptist Church on Sun., April 8 at 7 a.m. Rev. Willie J. White is pastor.

Good Friday Service

Mulberry Christian Methodist Episcopal Church will host its sixth ecumenical Good Friday Service on April 6 at 7 p.m. Members of the clergy pastoring churches in the Lincoln community will expound on the Seven Last Words of Jesus. The public is invited to attend.

SALS to meet

The Sons of American Legion, Squadron 194 will meet April 10, 2007 at 7:30 p.m. at the post home. All members are asked to please attend this important meeting. This is the election of officers for 2007-2008. Bring a new member with you.

Choir celebration

The Tabernacle Gospel Choir will celebrate years of making a joyful noise unto the Lord through song on Sat., April 14 at 4 p.m. Everyone is invited. Rev. DaNang A. Rockett is pastor.

Hat Show April 7

The Mulberry CME Church Board of Evangelism will have its annual Hat Show April 7 at 4 p.m. There will be two hats given away. You may purchase a ticket from any member of the board for a $1 donation. Everyone is invited to come out and support the board of evangelism and enjoy an afternoon of hats in fashion! Rev. Free aerobics class

Tabernacle Baptist Church, Hwy. 220 W., will offer free aerobics classes every Monday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 10 a.m. You don't have to be a member to attend the classes. Rev. DaNang A. Rockett is pastor.

CCLC to meet

The Concerned Citizens of Lincoln County will meet Thurs., April 19, 6:30 p.m. at the Lincoln County Library. Everyone is welcome to come and be a part of the CCLC.

Gospel night May 2

The Lincolnton-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce will present the 13th Annual Southern Gospel Night Wed., May 2, 7 p.m. at Elijah Clark State Park.

Auxiliary to meet

The American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 194 will meet April 12, 2007 at 7:30 p.m. at the post home. All members are asked to please attend for the election of officers. Food Pantry items for month of April are: mac & cheese, mustard, catsup. April birthday cake for the senior citizens is Gaye Foskey.

Apply for honorarium

High school seniors may apply for an honorarium sponsored by the Lincoln Wilkes Retired Educators Association. The students must plan to attend a college or vocational school for the 2007 - 2008 academic year and write a 250 - 500 word essay on the topic "The Importance of Furthering My Education."

Please provide a cover page with your name, date, name of high school and the name of college or vocational school you plan to attend. Deadline for essay to be submitted to your high school counselor is Fri., March 30.

Easter service

Post 194 to meet
