Katie Prevatt Vickery Mrs. Katie Prevatt Vickery, 83, of Jacksonville, Fla., entered into rest on Saturday, February 17, 2007 at Palm Gardens Nursing Home in Jacksonville. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, February 22 at Beggs Funeral Home with Rev. Robert D. Adams officiating. Interment followed in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. Katie was a retired waitress having worked at the Robert Meyer Hotel in Jacksonville for many years prior to her retirement. She was born in Gainesville, Fla. on March 1, 1923. She was the daughter of the late Grace Prevatt and her step-father was Harry Cramer. She was married to Denver B. Vickery on June 18, 1950, who grew up in Lincoln County and moved to Florida as an adult. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Danny Stenli, and grandson in-law, Norman Plummer. Survivors include a step-daughter, Frances V. Stenli of Middleburg, Fla.; a step-son, Benton Alford Vickery of Jacksonville; step-grandchildren, Skippy Stenli and wife, Pam, Robert Stenli and wife, Danielle of Orange Park, Fla., and Linda S. Plummer of Hilliard, Fla.; step-great-grandchildren, Jeremy Plummer of Hilliard, Fla., Shannon and Tiffany Plummer of Hilliard, Fla. and Amanda Foy and husband, Matthew of Jacksonville; Lincoln County relatives are niece, Mrs. Mickey Norman and husband, Murray and great-nephew, Jack V. Paradise. Her survivors remember her as being a very loving and devoted wife. She was also devoted to her work and very aware that she must have adequate rest to be a good waitress and wife. She and her late husband enjoyed having pets, their favorites being Boston Bulldogs. She is survived by two of her "flowers" as she called them, Lilly and Daisy. Beggs Funeral Home, Lincolnton, was in charge of arrangements. |
