The 2006 edition of the LCHS Red Devils has fielded the largest group of college scholarship recipients in the history of the school.

Five players signed scholarship contracts in the LCHS Media Center in the presence of coaches, family members, teachers, and friends on National Signing Day, February 7.

Larry Campbell, head football coach and athletic director at LCHS, was unable to attend the signing ceremony due to a previous commitment.

"This is the first time I've had to miss National Signing Day," said the coach. "This year, we had the largest number of LCHS students ever offered scholarships on one signing day. Each one of these kids is very deserving. They have the opportunity of a lifetime. I hope everything works out for the players and the schools."

The coach went on to say that players do not get scholarships without some help. "I would like to thank the assistant coaches and the administrators for their hard work. They had a lot to do with helping these kids get scholarships. It's a long, long, long process. I'm very pleased."
