Jennifer T. Mims

Mrs. Jennifer Lyn Tootle Mims, 54, entered into rest on Wednesday, January 30, 2007 after a sudden illness, in Athens, Ga.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 1, at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Paul C. Reviere officiating. Interment followed at 4 p.m. in Mrs. Mims' hometown of Glennville, Ga. in the Glennville City Cemetery.

Mrs. Mims was born February 17, 1952 in Reidsville, Ga. She graduated from Glennville High School in 1970. She received her B.S. Degree from Georgia Southern in 1973, her Masters of Education from Augusta College and her Specialist in Education from University of Georgia. She began teaching in Lincoln County School System in 1973 and taught there until 1997. After moving to Hoschton, she continued her career at Ft. Daniel Elementary School in Dacula. She was a teacher there until 2002 and then became an assistant principal. She was the Teacher of the Year for Ft. Daniel and one of the six finalist for Gwinnett Public Schools in 2001-02. She retired in 2005 but continued to work part-time at the school. She was an advocate for children all of her career and was highly regarded as an expert about the developmental needs of children. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, Lincolnton. Jennifer will be remembered for her love for her family, children, and the Georgia Bulldogs.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jack Delaney Tootle.

Survivors include her husband of 34 years, Paul Mims; two daughters, Delaney Mims of Atlanta, Ga. and Lindsay Mims of Athens, Ga.; a sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Bob Price of Prattville, Ala.; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Frances and Billy Mims of Lincolnton; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Beth and John Fazio of Martinez, Ga.; nieces and nephews, Ashley Hall, Whitney, Hillary, Annabeth and Tyler Fazio; and great-nephew, Fleming Hall.

Beggs Funeral Home, Lincolnton, was in charge of arrangements.
