Little League registration

Lincoln County Little League registration is currently underway at three convenient locations, Cliatt Crossing, Farmers and Merchants Bank and Goldman & Wengrow. Girls and boys age 5 - 16 are encouraged to sign up for a great season of baseball. Deadline to register is Feb. 16.

Youth group trip

If you are planning on traveling to Disney World with the Newberry Baptist Church Youth Group this year, you will need to contact one of the following coordinators as soon as possible. There are only 15 seats left! A deposit is needed to secure a seat.

Space available

The Lincoln County Pre-K Program has spaces available at this time for the 2006 - 2007 school year.

Children must have been four years of age on or before September 1. Children may attend who ae five years of age. The family must be a resident of Lincoln County.

Parents interested in enrolling their child should contact Mollie Wagoner, Pre-K Resource Coordinator, by calling 706-359-5244 during regular school hours.

Young Miss Pageant

The Lincoln Young Miss Pageant is scheduled for Tues., Jan. 23, 2007 in the Lincoln County High School Auditorium. Future Business Leaders of America is sponsoring this event.

Girls in kindergarten through fifth grade are eligible. They must either attend school in Lincoln County, live in Lincoln County or have a parent/ guardian who works in Lincoln County.

Applications will be available at the chamber, elementary school and from Mrs. Dukes, FBLA adviser. The deadline to submit the $30 fee and application is Jan. 12 to Mrs. Dukes at LCHS.

Computer classes

Computer literacy for beginners and intermediates will be offered every Tues., and Thurs., beginning Tues., Jan 2 - Thurs., Jan. 25. Beginners will meet 12:30 - 2:30 p.m. and intermediates will meet 3 - 5 p.m.

Class size is limited. Pre-registration and pre-payment is required. Cost is $15 administrative fee. Mail checks to McCormick County Schools, c/o Jim Morrow, 202 Mallard Lane, Mc- Cormick, S.C. 29835. Call Jim at 864-391-2810 with questions.

Fish fry Jan. 27

Loco Volunteer Fire Dept. will have a fish fry on Sat., Jan. 27 at 5 p.m. Cost will be $6 per plate.

Old cards wanted

All old Christmas, birthday, holiday or all occasion cards are needed for the art class at Lincoln County Elementary School. If you have some, please drop them by the school or contact Mrs. Kelly.

TIA Helping Hand

The original Clothes Closet, located on Firetower Rd., has reopened, now as T.I.A. Community Helping Hand. All proceeds will go toward the Lincoln County Food Pantry and emergency needs of the community, 50/50.

Mobile mammography The University Mobile Mammography Unit will be at the Lincoln County Health Department on January 23 and February 20.

Screening mammograms for women age 40 and above are usually covered by private insurance and Medicare. Call the health department at 359-3154 for more information

Free legal help

Georgia Legal Services Program (GLSP) staff will be in Lincoln County to meet with senior citizens wanting free legal, non-criminal, help on a first-come, first-serve basis at The Lincoln County Senior Center, 160 May Ave., on Wed., Dec. 13 from 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Mr. LCMS pageant

The Lincoln County Middle School Student Council will sponsor a Mr. Lincoln County Middle School Contest Mon., Feb. 5 at 7:30 p.m. The contest is open to all boys in grades 6 - 8 at LCMS. Entry fee is $30 and must be paid, along with entry form, by Fri., Jan. 19. Late fee is $40 and is due by Wed., Jan. 24.

Joy Night service Joy Night services will be held Sat., Jan. 27 at True Fellowship Church at 6 p.m. Evangelist Christina Moore of Rayle Outreach Ministry will be the guest speaker. The public is invited to attend. Bishop James Ware is pastor.

NWTF banquet

Moore to speak

Renowned author and Bible teacher Beth Moore will speak to tens of thousands of women across North America in a live satellite simulcast based on her new book Get Out of That Pit on Sat., Feb. 24 at McCormick First Baptist Church from 10:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Deacons program

The Deacons Ministry of Mt. Zion Baptist Church would like to invite everyone to their Deacons program on Jan. 21 at 3 p.m. Rev. Dewayne Cowins of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Dearing, Ga. and Macedonia Baptist Church in Washington, Ga., will be in charge of services.

ACS offers RtoR prog.

The American Cancer Society now offers its Road to Recovery program to cancer patients in Lincoln County who need transportation to and from their treatments, free of charge. Drivers are trained society volunteers who pick up patients at their homes, take them to their treatment and drive them back home.

Holsomback fund

A fund has been set up to help Eleanor Holsomback, a hair stylist at Hair Works, with medical and travel expenses the family are incurring due to her son, Robby, being hospitalized in Asheville, N.C. in serious condition.

Eleanor is the only one employed in her family and has not been able to work due to her being in North Carolina with her son.

GED/Adult classes

Augusta Technical College and Lincoln County Family Connection are offering GED/Adult Literacy classes on Mon., Tues., and Thurs. from 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. and Wed., from 8:30 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. For more information, please call 706-359- 3425 or 706-359-5769.

Learn sign language

ABC-123's of American Sign Language: A Children's Sign Language Course will be held on Sat., Feb. 10, 17 and 24 at 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. in the MCG Children's Medical Center classroom (BT 1809).

The course teaches basic sign language to children ages 6 to 12 through fun activities, games and skills practice. Those interested in learning another language or in communicating with those who are hearing-impaired are encouraged to sign up. Presented by MCG Health System.

Jones to speak

Salem Baptist Church will host missionaries Jeff Jones and family on Sun., Jan. 28 at 6 p.m. Jeff and his family are from Lincolnton and have been serving as missionaries in Alaska for several years. Everyone is invited.

Fourth Sun. service

Solomon Pool Deliverance Ministries of Lincolnton will have service on the fourth Sunday of the month, beginning Jan. 21, at Solomon Pool Holiness Church in Washington at 11 a.m. The public is invited to attend. Rev. Peggy Ware Zellars is pastor.

Flu vaccines

The Lincoln County Health Department has the flu vaccine available. The public is advised to call the health dept. at 706-359-3154 to confirm availability.

Drawing to be held

The Sons of American Legion Squadron 194 will hold a drawing on Sat., March 24, at the turkey shoot, for a Remington 1187 Sportsman 12 gauge black synthetic 2 ¾ inch and 3 inch Rem-Choke Barrel. You do not have to be present to win. Tickets are $2 or three for $5. Contact any Sons member for tickets. All proceeds will benefit the Sons.

Fund set up for Myers

A fund has been established at Farmers State Bank to help Ray Myers with medical expenses. Ray has recently been diagnosed with cancer and has a long and expensive road ahead of him. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Turkey shoot

The Sons of the American Legion, Squadron 194, will sponsor a turkey shoot at the American Legion Fairgrounds Jan. 20 from 7 - 10 p.m. Everyone is invited to have great fun and fellowship.

There will be a meeting at the home of Joe Louis and Gwen Hearst Jan. 20 at 5 p.m.

Classic Re-Runs is a non profit clothes shop specializing in good quality, lightly worn clothes for all sizes. They also have household items, dishes, and what-knots. All money is used exclusively for people with a medical emergency in Lincoln County. Donations are tax deductible.

CCLC to meet

The Concerned Citizens of Lincoln County will not meet again until Thurs., Jan. 18 due to the holiday season. They will meet at the Lincoln County Library at 6:30 p.m.

Gold City to perform
