Community Calendar TIA Helping Hand The original Clothes Closet, located on Firetower Rd., has reopened, now as T.I.A. Community Helping Hand. All proceeds will go toward the Lincoln County Food Pantry and emergency needs of the community, 50/50. All donations are welcome, we will pick up. Your donations are appreciated. The American Cancer Society now offers its Road to Recovery program to cancer patients in Lincoln County who need transportation to and from their treatments, free of charge. Drivers are trained society volunteers who pick up patients at their homes, take them to their treatment and drive them back home. Garden club to meet The Pine Needle Garden Club will meet at 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 8 at the Lincoln Co. Library. Please plan to come and make plans for a New Year. Vistors are welcome. Space available The Lincoln County Pre-K Program has spaces available at this time for the 2006 - 2007 school year. Children must have been four years of age on or before September 1. Children may attend who ae five years of age. The family must be a resident of Lincoln County. Parents interested in enrolling their child should contact Mollie Wagoner, Pre-K Resource Coordinator, by calling 706-359-5244 during regular school hours. CCLC to meet The Concerned Citizens of Lincoln County will not meet again until Thurs., Jan. 18 due to the holiday season. They will meet at the Lincoln County Library at 6:30 p.m. Flu vaccines The Lincoln County Health Department has the flu vaccine available. The public is advised to call the health dept. at 706-359-3154 to confirm availability. Classic Re-Runs Classic Re-Runs is a non profit clothes shop specializing in good quality, lightly worn clothes for all sizes. They also have household items, dishes, and what-knots. All money is used exclusively for people with a medical emergency in Lincoln County. Donations are tax deductible. Classic Re-Runs is located at 108 Main Street, next door to China One. Planning meeting The Lincoln County Ministerial Association will sponsor a free yard sale in March. They will have their next planning meeting Thurs., Jan. 4, 7:30 p.m. at Morningside Baptist Church. All area churches are encouraged to come and take part. Young Miss Pageant The Lincoln Young Miss Pageant is scheduled for Tues., Jan. 23, 2007 in the Lincoln County High School Auditorium. Future Business Leaders of America is sponsoring this event. Girls in kindergarten through fifth grade are eligible. They must either attend school in Lincoln County, live in Lincoln County or have a parent/ guardian who works in Lincoln County. Applications will be available at the chamber, elementary school and from Mrs. Dukes, FBLA adviser. The deadline to submit the $30 fee and application is Jan. 12 to Mrs. Dukes at LCHS. Breakfast buffet Faith Temple will have its All You Can Eat First Saturday Breakfast Buffet on Sat., Jan. 6 from 7 - 10- a.m. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for 11 and under. Computer classes Computer literacy for beginners and intermediates will be offered every Tues., and Thurs., beginning Tues., Jan 2 - Thurs., Jan. 25. Beginners will meet 12:30 - 2:30 p.m. and intermediates will meet 3 - 5 p.m. Class size is limited. Pre-registration and pre-payment is required. Cost is $15 administrative fee. Supper meeting The Lincoln County Historical Society will hold its annual covered dish supper meeting on Jan. 4, 2007, 7 p.m. at the May House. "Be Young, Be Foolish, Be Happy" is the theme of the party. The break from winter will be a beach party so members and guests will wear flowered shirts, kimonos, garish sunglasses and outlandish sun hats. Games and prizes are planned. The May House will be decorated with umbrellas, beach balls, sea shells, pink flamingos and tacky beach souvenirs. This is a party you do not want to miss so bring a friend and most especially something good to eat and remember - live your life for today! Fund set up for Myers A fund has been established at Farmers State Bank to help Ray Myers with medical expenses. Ray has recently been diagnosed with cancer and has a long and expensive road ahead of him. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Free legal help Georgia Legal Services Program (GLSP) staff will be in Lincoln County to meet with senior citizens wanting free legal, non-criminal, help on a first-come, first-serve basis at The Lincoln County Senior Center, 160 May Ave., on Wed., Dec. 13 from 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. If you are unable to meet with them on this date, you may call them any day at 1-800-248-6697. Water works The City of Lincolnton Water Dept. is currently working on water mains, please be aware you may experience water outages, low pressure and stained water at various intervals. Air may also be introduced into the system. They apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. TIA/NAACP to meet Twilight Improvement Association and Lincoln County NAACP will meet at Newberry Missionary Baptist Church on Mon., Jan. 8 at 7 p.m. MLK observance The Annual Martin Luther King Birthday Observance will be held at Lincoln County High School on Sun., Jan. 14 at 3 p.m. Rev. Study group to meet A ladies Bible study group will begin Jan. 16 at the Lincoln Wellness Center, 327 Elm St., on Tuesdays from 7 - 8:30 p.m. They will be studying the book of Mark.
