Mobile mammography

The University Mobile Mammography Unit will be at the Lincoln County Health Department Nov. 20 and Dec. 11.

Screening mammograms for women age 40 and above are usually covered by private insurance and Medicare. Call the health department at 359-3154 for more information

GED/Adult classes

Augusta Technical College and Lincoln County Family Connection are offering GED/Adult Literacy classes on Mon., Tues., and Thurs. from 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. and Wed., from 8:30 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. For more information, please call 706-359-3425 or 706-359-5769.

Wynn to speak

Minister Darrell Wynn will be preaching at Parks Grove F.B.H. Church in Lincolnton on Fri., Nov. 16 at 8 p.m. The public is invited. Tonita Cody is pastor.

Christmas booth

Double Branches Baptist Church will have a Christmas themed booth set up at Pioneer Day. Please come and check out the low prices on many beautiful bows and ornmanets as well as lots of other Christmas decorations. All proceeds received will help send the youth to Centrifuge summer camp.

Thanksgiving singing

Picking and singing will be held at Metasville School House Thanksgiving night, Nov. 22, at 7 p.m. featuring Lizzie Long, Little Roy Lewis and friends, with a variety of music, gospel, bluegrass, etc.

Finger foods will be provided by the ladies of Rehoboth Baptist Church. Everyone is welcome.

AA meets Thurs.

AA will meet at Lincolnton United Methodist Church on Thursdays for the month of November.

The church family of Parks Grove FBH Church will celebrate Pastor Tonita Cody's ninth anniversary on Sun., Nov. 18 at 3 p.m. Rev. Dennis Quinn will be the guest speaker. Everyone is invited.

Post 194 to meet

American Legion Post 194 will hold its monthly meeting Tues., Nov. 20, 7:30 p.m. at the post home.

Free legal help

Georgia Legal Services Program (GLSP) staff will be in Lincoln County at The Lincoln County Senior Center, 160 May Ave., on Thurs., Dec. 13 from 11:15 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. to meet with senior citizens wanting free non-criminal legal help, on a first- come, first-serve basis.

If you are unable to meet with them on this date, you may call 1-800-248- 6697 for legal help.

Board meetings

The regular meetings of the Lincoln County Board of Elections and Voter Registration will be held on the fourth Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. The meetings will be held at the Board of Elections, The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., Lincolnton, GA 30817, any changes to the schedule dates or alternate dates for meetings occurring on holidays will be posted.

Jazz concert

Augusta State University Conservatory Jazz Band will present Jazz! Jazz! Jazz! annual fall concert on Sat., Nov. 17, 7:30 p.m. at Maxwell Performing Arts Theatre. Admission is free. Historical society to sponsor Tree of Remembrance

The Lincoln County Historical Society is honored to sponsor The Tree of Remembrance for 2007. It is a highlight of the season for this community, and its lights will shine throughout the Holiday Season. The tree is located at the intersection of Peachtree and Main Streets, near the fountain.

A light "In Honor" or "In Memory" of family and friends can be placed on the tree for a $1.00 donation for each name. A register for the names will be displayed at the Historical Park on Pioneer Day, Saturday, November 17, 10:30 am until 3:00 p.m. Registers will also be displayed at the following locations: City Pharmacy, Crawford-Breazeale Drug Co. and Jericho Florist. Requests may be mailed to: Mrs. Mobley Ross, P. O. Box 245, Lincolnton, GA 30817.

You will be rewarded each time you see the lighted tree, the name listed in The Lincoln Journal and the list displayed at City Hall. Those "In Honor" will be evidence that someone is very special, and those "In Memory" will be remembered by many and in many ways.

All donations will be used for the maintenance and preservation of the Historical Park. Thank you for your participation and support. May your holidays be blessed with faith, hope and love!

TIA Helping Hand

The original Clothes Closet, located on Firetower Rd., has reopened, now as T.I.A. Community Helping Hand. All proceeds will go toward the Lincoln County Food Pantry and emergency needs of the community, 50/ 50.

Choir anniversary

First Baptist Church Gospel Choir will celebrate its choir anniversary Sat., Nov. 17 at 5:30 p.m. All area choirs are invited along with the public. Rev. Dennis Quinn is pastor.

Classic Re-Runs open

Classic Re-Runs is a non profit clothes shop specializing in good quality, lightly worn clothes for all sizes. They also have household items, dishes and what-knots. All money is used exclusively for Lincoln County Citizens. Donations are tax deductible.

Classic Re-Runs is located at 108 Main Street, next door to China One. Stop by to check out their half-price sales and specials that change weekly.

Pantry closed Nov. 22

The Lincoln County Food Pantry will be closed on Nov. 22, Thanksgiving Day. All clients who would generally report on Thursday, Nov. 22, please report on Mon., Nov. 19.

Turkey shoot Nov. 24

Sons of the American Legion Squadron 194 will sponsor a turkey shoot on Nov. 24 at the American Legion Fairgrounds from 7 - 10 p.m. Food will be available for purchase.

Revival at GHW A three-night revival will be held at God House of Worship Nov. 28 - 30 at 7:30 p.m. nightly with Pastor John Garrett of Gainesville, Ga. Everyone is invited. Beatrice Mahoney is pastor.

Training courses

The American Red Cross of Augusta will hold Babysitter Training courses on Dec. 28, 2007 at the Columbia County Library, 7702 Evans Town Center Blvd., from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. The course is for children between 11 and 15 years of age and teaches skills necessary to provide safe and responsible child care. Participants will also learn how to market themselves as a babysitter including preparing a resume'. Those attending need to bring a sack lunch. Lay Day Program

Pleasant Grove CME Church will have its Annual Lay Day Program Nov. 17 at 5 p.m. Mrs. Janie Franklin of Williams Memorial CME Church will be the guest speaker. Rev. Walter Clayton is pastor.
