Little Theater to present variety show Oct. 5-7

Presented by the Washington Little Theater Company, "The Washington Follies" promises to be a true variety show with singing, dancing, and comedy as well as a parade of celebrity look-alikes.

The follies will be presented on Friday, October 5, at 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, October 6 and 7, at 3 p.m. at The Playhouse on N. Alexander Avenue in Washington.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for those 12 and under. Reservations are recommended and may be made by calling 706-678-9582. Tickets, if available, may be purchased at the box office, which opens one hour prior to the show. Members may use their cards for this production.

The show will feature Broadway tunes, love songs, and inspirational numbers performed by Darren Pharr, Dr. Erick Pagan, Shay Harris, Michael Moore, Skip Padgett, Rick Price, and Kay Nelms; selections by The Primary Performers from the Washington Wilkes Primary School, the Washington First United Methodist Men's Ensemble, and the cast of the musical "Smoke on the Mountain; high-kicking dancers from the Washington Dance Academy; comedy in the form of "The Silent Movie" and the "Stan and Emory Duo;" and bluegrass performed by "Bubba's Big Tractor Pull," comprised of Mason and Ethan Jones.

The audience will also have a chance to join in the fun by singing along with Stan Coe and Emory Ware's group of singers and pickers. Incidentally, Ware hails from Lincoln County.

Rounding out the evening will be "The Personality Parade" of locals who just happen to look like famous people. Among these special guests are Dolly Parton, Col. Harland Sanders, Katie Couric, Kenny Rogers, Barbra Streisand, Little Orphan Annie, and Ken Nugent.

The follies are being directed by Jo Randall, and Sherri Bowers is serving as the accompanist. Bowers' opening overture will spotlight several well-known Broadway melodies.
