Patrick Martini of Lincolnton is a new recipient of a scholarship provided by the Ty Cobb Educational Foundation. A political science major at Augusta State University, Martini is listed among 208 Georgia residents who received $505,000 in scholarships for the 2007-2008 academic year. More ... Lincolnton FFA members recently attended the North Region FFA Rally at the Georgia FFA-FCCLA Center in Covington, GA. Lincolnton FFA members participated in an official business meeting of the North Region FFA, leadership team building activities, an awards session, a cross-cut saw competition and social activities while attending the Rally. FFA member Will Gay, who is currently serving as the North Region FFA Area II vice-president, worked with the Area II FFA Officer Team in coordinating the business session and leadership activities and helped to provide supervision during this event. More ... Mrs. Gloria Wilson was surprised by her son, Vernon, with a party at the home of Tab and Sherri Reed on Double Branches Road, for her 80th birthday. The event was a buffet dinner served around the pool and consisted of all the picnic type foods and drinks. The Youth Ministry of St. Luke Baptist Church of Lincolnton enjoyed a trip to Carowinds September 8. The children enjoyed a day of roller coaster rides and fun in the sun. For lunch, the children enjoyed sandwiches, chips, chicken wings, fruit cups and drinks. On the way back, the group stopped in Rock Hill, S.C. and had supper at Shoney's Restaurant. Thirteen youth and seven adults made the trip. Chaperones were Pastor and Mrs. Alvin Rivers, Shantell Henderson, April Ruff, Mildred Medlock, Hermecender Walton-Crawford and Doris Hunter. This award is a prestigious honor very few students can ever hope to attain. In fact, the academy recognizes fewer than 10 percent of all American high school students. More ... Felita N. Paschall was recently named to the Academic Achievement List for summer 2007 and graduated from Georgia Southwestern State University.
