Georgia Power employees began work Monday, September 24, replacing multiple aerial electric utility poles along State Route 47, crossing Clark's Hill Lake at the Lincoln-Columbia County line.

The project calls for the construction of a temporary dock in the power line right-of-way on the Lincoln County side of the transmission line since the majority of the pole replacement work will be conducted from barges.

The pole replacement project will maintain the reliability and safety of the aerial utility lines in this area, according to a spokesman with the Georgia Power Company.

There will be no interruption of traffic on Highway 47 during the work period, and boats will still be able to pass under Price-Legg Bridge. The project is expected to reach completion around the middle of November.

As a result of the construction, the United States Army Corps of Engineers is warning boaters to use caution while in the vicinity of the barges. Work zone buoys will be placed around the barges.

Also, the public is urged to obey all navigation aids while on the water and to fish and boat away from the barges. Company security and construction staff will be on site to ensure the safety of the public.
