Mobile mammography

The University Mobile Mammography Unit will be at the Lincoln County Health Department on July 31 and August 21.

Screening mammograms for women age 40 and above are usually covered by private insurance and Medicare. Call the health department at 359-3154 for more information

TIA Helping Hand

The original Clothes Closet, located on Firetower Rd., has reopened, now as T.I.A. Community Helping Hand. All proceeds will go toward the Lincoln County Food Pantry and emergency needs of the community, 50/ 50.

Revival at Morningside

Morningside Baptist Church will have revival services beginning Sun., July 29 at 11 a.m. and will continue through Thurs., Aug. 2 with evening services beginning at 7 p.m. Guest speaker will be Evangelist Donald Walton.

Revival services

Annual revival services for Harmony Baptist Church will be held Mon., Aug. 6 - Thurs., Aug. 9, 2007 at 7:30 p.m. each night. Rev. Darnell Braintley of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Thomson, will be our guest preacher.

Kids Crusade

First Assembly of God will host a Kids Crusade Wed., July 25 through Sat., July 28. There will be Bible stories, music, games, drama, refreshments, etc. Registration will be from 6:30-7:00 on Wednesday with the crusade starting at 7 p.m. each evening and 10:30 a.m. on Saturday morning.

Following the program on Saturday, there will be outside activities to include an inflatable slide and a moonwalk on the recreational field behind the Family Life Center. Children up to age 12 are encouraged to attend. First Assembly is located on the Thomson Highway. For more information, call the church office at 359-7237.

Board meetings

The regular meetings of the Lincoln County Board of Elections and Voter Registration will be held on the fourth Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. The meetings will be held at the Board of Elections, The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., Lincolnton, GA 30817, any changes to the schedule dates or alternate dates for meetings occurring on holidays will be posted.

Fund set up

A fund has been set up at Farmers State Bank for Tee Turner, who is battling Lou Gehrig's disease.

Pool now open

The pool is now open at the Lincoln County Recreation Department. Hours are Tues. - Sat., 12 noon - 6 p.m. Cost is $2 per person.

Family reunion

The descendants of William Norman, Revolutionary War Hero, will have their bi-annual reunion during the weekend of Aug. 3 and 4. On Friday, Aug. 3 at 6 p.m., we will meet at The Lincoln Center for the "Kith N' Kin" meeting, please bring a finger food dish item to share.

On Sat., Aug. 4, we will start with the memorial service and business session at Goshen Baptist Church at 10 a.m. with guest speaker Bruce Beggs. In the afternoon we will have the cemetery tour with black powder salute to our deceased war veterans. We will then meet back at The Lincoln Center for the banquet meal and entertainment provided by Charles Gunn at 7 p.m. Dress casual for Friday night and coat and tie or western for Saturday night. Student registration

Registration for new students will be held Thurs., July 19 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. at Lincoln County Elementary School.

A birth certificate, health and immunization certificate (if available at this time), the child's social security number, and proof of residence will be requested on this day.

Important! Students who attended the school system's four-year-old preschool and students who have already registered do not have to register. They will need to follow up on the three certificate requirements by Aug. 3, 2007.

Benefit barbecue

New Work Baptist Church Brotherhood will have its second annual benefit barbecue sale on Aug. 18. The menu will consist of barbecue, hash and rice, slaw, baked beans, bread, tea and cake. Call 706-359-1480 for more information. The proceeds from the sale will benefit the community through Brotherhood projects.

The ladies of NWBC WOM will also be holding a bake sale the same day with all proceeds going to missions.

Summer lecture

Faith Tabernacle will hold summer lecture programs, "Pastors are People Too," July 22, at 3 p.m. with Pastor DaNang Rockett and July 29, at 3 p.m. with Pastor Matthew Harden.

GED/Adult classes

Augusta Technical College and Lincoln County Family Connection are offering GED/Adult Literacy classes on Mon., Tues., and Thurs. from 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. and Wed., from 8:30 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. For more information, please call 706-359-3425 or 706-359-5769.

Looking for old photos

Salem Baptist Church is looking for old photographs of the church and/ or church activities. The members will be celebrating the 180th anniversary of the church on Oct. 21 with a Homecoming service and meal.

Church anniversary

First Baptist Church will be celebrating its church anniversary on July 22 at 2:30 p.m. Guest minister will be Rev. Tonia Cody and Parks Grove Church family will be in charge of services. The public is invited.
