Athletes honored at awards night

The event was sponsored by the Lincoln County Athletic Booster Club in conjunction with the LCHS Athletic Department.

Guests were welcomed to the ceremony by Larry Campbell, athletic director and head football coach at LCHS.

Next on the program, representatives from the United States Army presented Coach Campbell with a crystal plaque in recognition of his participation in the 2007 United States Army All-America Bowl held in San Antonio, Texas.

The remainder of the evening was devoted to the introduction of the various teams by their coaches and the presentation of awards. Those receiving recognition were:

Varsity Basketball

Most Valuable Player: Jatheus Jones and Coppetta Elam.

Most Improved Player: Darrien West and Jasmine Partlow.

Coach's Award: Sayah Cummings. Team Captain: Tony Wells. Spark Award: DeChane Willis, Cordarius Harden, Latoya Harris, and Datamkia Walton.

Junior Varsity Basketball

Most Valuable Player: Detravis Hearst.

Best Defensive Player: Jatoyus Jones and Jeree Dukes.

Best Offensive Player: Alex Ellis and Ashia Crew.

Team Captain: Jarren Brown.

Soccer

Most Valuable Player: Jaime Turner. Leadership Award: Ross Waters, Vance Woods, and Ashleigh Vick.

Coaches' Award: Ryan Williamson, Tyesha Miller, and Madison Saggus.

Varsity Game Ball Award: Cody Davis.

Best Defensive Player: Crafton Reed.

Best Offensive Player: Austin Goldman and Trey Bailey.
