VBS at Double Branches

Double Branches Baptist Church invites children ages 3 to 6th grade to get in the game at Vacation Bible School "Game Day Central: Where Heroes Are Made!" May 21 - 25 from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. For more information call 359-4966.

Mobile mammography

The University Mobile Mammography Unit will be at the Lincoln County Health Department on May 29 and June 19.

Screening mammograms for women age 40 and above are usually covered by private insurance and Medicare. Call the health department at 359-3154 for more information

Pastor appreciation

White Rock Baptist Church will have Pastor Appreciation Sun., May 27 at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Kenneth B. Martin and Antioch Baptist Church of Augusta, will be in charge of the services. Dinner will be served. The public is invited. Rev. Seymore Harrison, Sr., is pastor.

GED/Adult classes

Augusta Technical College and Lincoln County Family Connection are offering GED/Adult Literacy classes on Mon., Tues., and Thurs. from 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. and Wed., from 8:30 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. For more information, please call 706-359-3425 or 706-359-5769.

Family fun day

The Lincoln County Historical Society will sponsor Family Fun Day on Wed., June 6 beginning at 10 a.m. Games, tours, contests and demonstrations are planned. Members and prospective members are invited to come and bring their families. The plan is to show off the park and show off our grandkids. Prizes for most grandchildren present, youngest great-grandmother, youngest grandchild, tallest 10-year-old and so forth, will be awarded. A hot dog and ice cream lunch is planned.

Legal assistance

Georgia Legal Services Program (GLSP) will be in Lincoln County at The Lincoln Center, 160 May Avenue, to meet with seniors wanting free non-criminal legal help, on a firstcome, first-serve basis. They will meet on Mon., June 11 11:15 a.m. - 1:15 p.m.

If you are unable to meet with them this day, you may call 1-800-248- 6697 to talk with them during normal business hours.

Joy Night at FBC

First Baptist Church will have Joy Night May 19 at 4 p.m. Rev. John Cade and File Chapel Baptist Church of Lexington, N.C. will be special guests. The public is invited.

Board meetings

The regular meetings of the Lincoln County Board of Elections and Voter Registration will be held on the fourth Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. The meetings will be held at the Board of Elections, The Lin- coln Center, 160 May Ave., Lincolnton, GA 30817, any changes to the schedule dates or alternate dates for meetings occurring on holidays will be posted.

Baseball camp

Youth Baseball Camp will be held for children in upcoming grades 3 - 8 at the Lincoln County Recreation Department May 29 - 31 from 9 a.m. - 12 noon. Cost is $30. Deadline to register is May 25. Call Coach Matthews at 706-359-3708 for more details.

ACS offers RtoR prog.

The American Cancer Society now offers its Road to Recovery program to cancer patients in Lincoln County who need transportation to and from their treatments, free of charge. Drivers are trained society volunteers who pick up patients at their homes, take them to their treatment and drive them back home.

Ten year reunion

Drawing for LCD TV

The Lincolnton-Lincoln County Little League will be selling tickets for a wall mountable LCD TV/DVD player combo, 32" wide screen. The drawing will be held June 4. You do not have to be present to win.

Tickets are $1 each and may be purchased at Farmers & Merchant's Bank or any little league member. The TV may be seen at Farmers & Merchant's Bank.

Co-ed softball

Breast health class

University Health Care System Breast Health Center will sponsor a breast health class at Lincoln County Health Department May 29, 8:30 - 2:45. No registration, no charge.

Drop in for breast health information; learn proper breast self-exam techniques, and the importance of yearly mammograms. Register for a chance to win a gift!

Appointments are required for mammograms, please call 706-359- 3154 to schedule your mammogram. We accept Medicare and most insurance plans.

CCLC to meet

The Concerned Citizens of Lincoln County will meet Thurs., May 17, 6:30 p.m. at the Lincoln County Library. The guest speaker for this month will be Alana Burke, executive director of the Lincoln County Development Authority.

Everyone is welcome to come be a part of the CCLC.

Ivey fund set up

A fund for Taffy Ivey has been established at Farmers State Bank to aid with medical expenses due to an illness she's been dealing with the past two years.

Hawes family reunion

Golf tourney

A 4-Man Scramble Golf Tournament will be held Sat., June 2, 8:30 a.m. at Rocky Branch Golf Course. The community is encouraged to participate.

Cost is $150 per team. Proceeds will benefit Lincoln County Food Pantry and Ministerial Association. Lunch will be provided and there will be a drawing for prizes.

Plant sale

Thomson Competitive Bulldog Cheer program members will sell plants at Bell's Parking Lot, Sat., June 2, 10 a.m. - l p.m. Many different types of plants on hand - azaleas, rose mary, bottle brush, day lilies, lady bank rose, hibiscus, annuals, perennials, hanging baskets, butterfly bushes and many more. Come on out and support your local girls in the Thomson Competitive Bulldog Cheer Program.

Family fun day

Lincoln County Family Connections is sponsoring a Family Health/ Fun Day. Come on out to the Curry Colvin Recreation Multi-Purpose Field Sat., May 19, for a fun filled family day, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Entry fee is $3 to play on everything, Moonwalk, Adrenaline Rush, Swamper Stomper, Giant Slide, Bungee Run, Bug's Life Obstacle. Concession will be offered $.50 and up. And special guests in our dunking booth $1 for 3 balls. Come on out and have a fun filled day with us.

Pick up stickers

George P. Burdell, president of the Wells Creek Georgia Tech Alumni Club, was unavoidably detained on Friday night and was unable to sit in the Relay for Life dunking booth. His slide rule was confiscated by TSA at the Augusta Airport. However, to make good on his promise to all UGA fans, he has delivered the "Go Bulldawgs" bumper stickers to the Lincoln County Tax Commissioners office. Bulldawg fans can pick up a bumper sticker there while they last.
