Bingo April 27

Bingo will be played at The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., on Fri., April 27 at 7 p.m. Hot dogs, chips, and drinks will be available along with prizes. All proceeds will benefit the Lincoln County Relay for Life Survivor Dinner.

Mobile mammography

The University Mobile Mammography Unit will be at the Lincoln County Health Department on May 29 and June 19.

Screening mammograms for women age 40 and above are usually covered by private insurance and Medicare. Call the health department at 359-3154 for more information

Signs available

Relay for Life signs are now available, for a donation, to all who would like to place one in your yard or in front of your business.

GED/Adult classes

Augusta Technical College and Lincoln County Family Connection are offering GED/Adult Literacy classes on Mon., Tues., and Thurs. from 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. and Wed., from 8:30 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. For more information, please call 706-359-3425 or 706-359-5769.

Sunday singing

St. Paul United Methodist Church will have a fifth Sunday night singing on Sun., April 29 at 7 p.m. with Kenneth and Martha Norris of Thomson, Ga. Everyone is invited. A love offering will be take.

Poland to speak

An Afternoon with An Author, sponsored by Lincoln County Friends of the Library, will be held Sunday afternoon, April 29 at 2 p.m. at the library. Tom Poland, author of Forbidden Island...An Island Called Sapelo, will speak on inspiration for a novel, the writing process, and the road to publication. A book signing will follow. Light refreshments will be served. The public is invited.

Ivey fund set up

A fund for Taffy Ivey has been established at Farmers State Bank to aid with medical expenses due to an illness she's been dealing with the past two years.

Family, friends prog.

New Tabernacle Gospel Choir will have its annual Family and Friends Day program Sun., May 6 at 3 p.m.

Rev. Paul Bush and Laura Grove Baptist Church of Clarks Hill, S.C. will be the guest. All family and friends are invited. Rev. Matthew Harden is pastor.

ACS offers RtoR prog.

The American Cancer Society now offers its Road to Recovery program to cancer patients in Lincoln County who need transportation to and from their treatments, free of charge. Drivers are trained society volunteers who pick up patients at their homes, take them to their treatment and drive them back home.

Ten year reunion

Gourmet dinner

A Wild Gourmet Club Dinner will be held at the beach house at Mistletoe State Park on Sun., April 29, 2 p.m. The dinner will feature venisonstuffed kudzu and dandelion wine. You can go online and search for wild edible recipes and experiment with something you can contribute to this pot luck dinner.

Board meetings

The regular meetings of the Lincoln County Board of Elections and Voter Registration will be held on the fourth Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. The meetings will be held at the Board of Elections, The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., Lincolnton, GA 30817, any changes to the schedule dates or alternate dates for meetings occurring on holidays will be posted.

Golf tourney

A 4-Man Scramble Golf Tournament will be held Sat., June 2, 8:30 a.m. at Rocky Branch Golf Course. The community is encouraged to participate.

Cost is $150 per team. Proceeds will benefit Lincoln County Food Pantry and Ministerial Association. Lunch will be provided and there will be a drawing for prizes.

Breakfast for ladies

The men of Newberry Missionary Baptist Church will prepare breakfast for the ladies on Mother's Day, May 13. Breakfast will be served at 8 a.m. and worship services will begin at 9:30 a.m. Rev. Willie J. White is pastor.

Book sale May 5

Friends of the Library's first semiannual book sale will begin Mon., April 30, in the Dova Partridge Annex at the library and will continue through Sat., May 5, with additional books on the lawn. Hardbacks and paperbacks are bargain priced. Stock up for your summer reading.

Luncheon at Tara

The Savannah River Christian Women's Connection invites everyone to their luncheon at Tara Country Club on May 9, 2007 from 12:30 - 2:00 p.m. Spectacular secrets surface as Joan Kafer shares what happened in her life. The good news is so exciting, she just can't keep silent. Linda Moffett from Seven Daffodils Gift Shoppe in McCormick will show us what wonderful items we can find new in her shop for spring and summer.

Cycle tour May 5

The Third Annual Cycle Tour will be held in Warrenton Sat., May 5. Registration will be at the Warren County Courthouse, 521 Main St., from 7:30 - 8:00 a.m. Registration fee is $20 and proceeds will benefit the local mentoring program, the earlyread program and family events downtown.

The Lincoln County Sunday School Union will host "Conference 2007" at Newberry Missionary Baptist Church on Sat., April 28 at 10 a.m.

The Lincoln County Sunday School Union will present "Conference 2007: Equipping Tomorrow's Church Today" at Newberry Missionary Baptist Church on Sat., April 28 from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Registration will be from 9 - 9:30 a.m.

Speakers for the occasion will be: Rev. William Blount, pastor of Greater Young Zion Baptist Church, Augusta; Willie Mays, owner of Mays Funeral Home; Rev. Clarence Moore, pastor of Good Shepherd Baptist Church and president of General Missionary Baptist Convention of Georgia, Inc.

Mrs. Charlotte Garnett and Rev. Denise Freeman will do workshops for the youth.
