Petty Officer Barr-Card retires after twenty years of service
GEZELL BARR-CARD Petty Officer First Class Gezell Barr-Card, a cryptologic technician, retired from the United States Navy after twenty years of service. The ceremony took place at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida.
Petty Officer Gezell Barr-Card graduated from Miami Central High School in Miami, FL. in 1986. She enlisted in the United States Navy in March 1987.
She completed basic training in Orlando, Fla. in May 1987 and reported for duty as a sales clerk in the ship exchange on the USS Samuel Gompers AD-37 in Alameda, Calif. In 1992, she attended Cryptologic Technician Communications course in Pensacola, Fla. After successfully completing the Cryptologic Technician Communications course, Petty Officer Barr-Card reported for duty at National Security Agency/Central Security Service in Stuttgart, Germany. During her tenure there, she served as Communications Operator.
In 1995, Petty Officer Barr-Card attended a Cryptologic Course at the University of West Florida in Pensacola. Following school, she reported to the Naval Security Group Activity, also in Pensacola, where she served as Unix Systems Administrator.
In 1999, She attended the Information Systems Administrator Course in Pensacola. She then reported for duty at the Naval Security Group Activity Kunia, Hawaii, where she served as Unix Systems Administrator.
In 2002, she reported for duty at HQ USCENTCOM, Directorate of Intelligence, and Systems Division as a Senior Unix System Administrator.
In 2004, Petty Officer Barr-Card thrived for position of greater responsibilities led to her selection as the Non-Commission Officer in Charge for HQ USCENTCOM, Information Assurance Branch.
Petty Officer Barr-Card is married and has two children. During her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family, exercising and shopping
