Roberson and Callaway entertained at shower
Engaged couple Toni Roberson and Tom Callaway were entertained at a lawn and garden shower on Saturday evening, April 7, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Manuel Bailey, aunt and uncle of the bride-elect, of Washington. Joining Mr. and Mrs. Manuel Bailey in hosting the event were cousins of the bride-elect, Mr. and Mrs. Jason Bailey and Mr. and Mrs. Buddy Radford of Lincolnton.
For the occasion, Miss Roberson chose a blue and white striped blouse with a blue jean jacket and khaki pants ensemble.
Guests entered the festivities through a garden gate alit with carriage lanterns. The lawn was artfully arranged with black wrought iron furniture adorned with terra cotta pots of Gerber daisies and seed packets. Irises transplanted from the flower garden of the late Mr. and Mrs. Glenn McCurry, the bride-elect's greatgrandparents, and Delphiniums were in full bloom along the garden fence. Of special interest to all were the two fire trays which provided light and warmth.
Guests enjoyed a meal of chicken fajitas with all the trimmings. After dinner each guest was served a trio of desserts including key lime bars, chocolate peanut butter cups and cream horn swirls.
The hosts presented the couple a wrought iron picnic table which was made by the bride-elect's uncle, Manuel Bailey.
Over sixty guests were invited. Special guest of the evening were the bride-elect's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Roberson of Washington; the prospective bridegroom's mother, Mrs. Faye Callaway of Tignall; also the bride-elect's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Gayle Roberson and Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Bailey, Sr. of Washington and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Partridge of Lincolnton.
