Bingo April 27

Bingo will be played at The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., on Fri., April 27 at 7 p.m. Hot dogs, chips, and drinks will be available along with prizes. All proceeds will benefit the Lincoln County Relay for Life Survivor Dinner.

Mobile mammography

The University Mobile Mammography Unit will be at the Lincoln County Health Department on May 29 and June 19.

Screening mammograms for women age 40 and above are usually covered by private insurance and Medicare. Call the health department at 359-3154 for more information The Women's Mission of Ebenezer Candlelight program

Baptist Church will hold a candlelight worship program on Sun., April 15 at 2 p.m. Special music will be provided by the Perriman Singers. Rev. Fred Perriman is pastor.

Signs available

Relay for Life signs are now available, for a donation, to all who would like to place one in your yard or in front of your business.

Augusta Technical College and Lincoln County Family Connection are offering GED/Adult Literacy classes on Mon., Tues., and Thurs. from 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. and Wed., from 8:30 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. For more information, please call 706-359-3425 or 706-359-5769.

Sunday singing

St. Paul United Methodist Church will have a fifth Sunday night singing on Sun., April 29 at 7 p.m. with Kenneth and Martha Norris of Thomson, Ga. Everyone is invited. A love offering will be take.

Poland to speak

An Afternoon with An Author, sponsored by Lincoln County Friends of the Library, will be held Sunday afternoon, April 29 at 2 p.m. at the library. Tom Poland, author of For- bidden Island...An Island Called Sapelo, will speak on inspiration for a novel, the writing process, and the road to publication. A book signing will follow. Light refreshments will be served. The public is invited.

Ivey fund set up

A fund has been established at Farmers State Bank to aid Taffy Ivey who was recently diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Donations may be made at the bank, the night deposit or by mailing to: Taffy Ivey Fund, P.O. Box 99, Lincolnton, GA 30817.

Homecoming services

Lincolnton United Methodist Church will be celebrating homecoming on Sun., April 22 at 10:30 a.m. A barbecue covered dish lunch will follow. Revival services will continue through Wednesday night, April 25.

Benefit barbecue

A benefit barbecue chicken plate sale will be held for the Travis Ivey family to help with medical expenses due to Taffy's illness over the past two years.

Plates will cost $6 each and may be picked up at the City Fire Department on April 7 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Contact any city fireman for advanced tickets.

ACS offers RtoR prog.

The American Cancer Society now offers its Road to Recovery program to cancer patients in Lincoln County who need transportation to and from their treatments, free of charge. Drivers are trained society volunteers who pick up patients at their homes, take them to their treatment and drive them back home.

Spring bird walk

A Spring Bird Walk will be held at Mistletoe State Park April 21 from 9 a.m. until noon. Meet outside the office of the park.

Board meeting

The executive board of the Lincoln County Food Pantry will meet at St. Paul United Methodist Church Thurs., April 19 at 7 p.m. Rev. David Jenkins is pastor.

Choir anniversary

The Lincoln Mass Choir will celebrate its 20th anniversary Sun., April 22 at First Baptist Church beginning at 3 p.m.

Crappie fish off

Fishing Creek will host its first Crappie Fish Off April 21. Registration fee is $5 per person. Fishing begins at 7 a.m. and ends at 7 p.m. Prizes will be awarded to the largest three crappies. Call 706-359-2720 to register and with any questions.

A drawing will be held at 8 p.m. for several nice items. Tickets may be purchased in advance for $5 each.

Board meetings

The regular meetings of the Lincoln County Board of Elections and Voter Registration will be held on the fourth Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. The meetings will be held at the Board of Elections, The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., Lincolnton, GA 30817, any changes to the schedule dates or alternate dates for meetings occurring on holidays will be posted.

Pastor appreciation

Solomon Pool Deliverance Ministries of Lincolnton will have its pastor appreciation service at The Lincoln Center on Sun., April 22 at 3 p.m. Co-pastor, Kathy Jones of Freemon Ministries of Lincolnton, will be the guest speaker. The public is invited to attend. Rev. Peggy W. Zellars is pastor.

Book sale May 5

FOL to meet Friends of the Library's first semiannual book sale will begin Mon., April 30, in the Dova Partridge Annex at the library and will continue through Sat., May 5, with additional books on the lawn. Hardbacks and paperbacks are bargain priced. Stock up for your summer reading.

Friends of the Library will meet Tues., April 24, at 3:30 p.m. at the library. All members are urged to attend. Men's retreat to be held in May

Time is fast approaching for the 3rd annual Lincoln County Christian Men's retreat. This year's retreat is being held May 4 - 6th at Camp Daniel Marshall in Lincolnton. The retreat is a non-denominational event open to all men. The purpose of the weekend is to draw more and more men to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and to a renewed commitment of serving Him.

Our guest speakers include Rev. Dave Hinson, pastor of Lincolnton United Methodist Church, Dr. Merle Strangway of The Learning Edge, Atlanta and Dr. Bill King Pastor of The River of Life Church in Eatonton, Ga.

On Friday evening we will hear from Pastor Dave who just moved to Lincolnton last June. Then on Saturday morning Dr. Strangway will be with us. He has worked with variety of businesses and nonprofit organizations across the United States and Canada. His Christian based seminars stress how to be more effective in areas of leadership, management and teamwork. Then on Saturday evening we will hear from Dr. Bill King who, in addition to being a pastor, is a Christian Addiction Counselor at Penfield Christian Home in Greensboro, Georgia. There will be testimonies from several local men. Also, the local praise and worship group "Unfettered" will provide our music and lead us in our worship time.

The weekend will be filled with plenty of music, worship, food, fun and fellowship including a fishing tournament on Saturday afternoon. The cost for the entire weekend is only $50 per person with financial assistant available if needed. There is a limited number of slots available for overnight guests, so we encourage everyone to register early before all slots are filled. The registration deadline is April 27, 2007.

If you can't be there for the entire event we invite you to attend the Friday and Saturday evening worship services.

Choir anniversary

Lincoln County Mass Choir will celebrate 20 years of spreading God's word through song on April 22 at First Baptist Church, 154 First Baptist Street, Lincolnton, at 3 p.m.

Presiding over the program will be Rev. and Mrs. Bobby Hankerson of Augusta.

Deacons program

The Deacons Ministry of Mt. Zion Baptist Church would like to invite everyone to their Deacons program on January 21 at 3 p.m. Rev Dewayne Cowins of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church Dearing, Ga. and Macedonia Baptist Church Washington, Ga. will be in charge of services.

Conference 2007

The Lincoln County Sunday School Union will host "Conference 2007" at Newberry Missionary Baptist Church on Sat., April 28 at 10 a.m.

All churches must register. Registration will be from 9 - 9:30 a.m. This year's theme is "Equipping Tomorrow's Church Today." Come and be blessed. Rev. Willie J. White is pastor.
