Friends of the Library is inviting the public to a book-signing for Tom Poland's novel Forbidden Island which is just out from Author House.

The book is available from Amazon.com if you'd like to order a copy. Of course, Tom will bring copies with him to the book-signing and will be autographing them for you.

Tom grew up in Lincoln County. The book-signing will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 29 at the library. We'll be serving desserts and drinks to attendees. If you remember what a wonderful time everyone had at the dedication of the new genealogy annex, you won't want to miss this special occasion. You'll get more information on the book and author later in The Lincoln Journal.

Our first semi-annual book sale is also coming up at the end of this month. Books will go on sale in the Dova Partridge Annex on Monday, April 30, and will be available all week. Additional books will be sold on the library lawn on Saturday, May 5. Now is your chance to buy your vacation reading material at bargain prices. Hardbacks will go for $1 and paperbacks for 25 cents. In the past, many of you have carried out bags of books, and we certainly appreciate your support.

Check out the library in the next few weeks for the many new books FOL is buying for the library. We are giving $1,500 for new children's books in preparation for the Summer Reading Program, $500 for Christian fiction, and $1,000 for adult fiction and nonfiction. The state continues to inadequately fund the purchase of new books. Since our library is one of the best in the region, FOL wants to keep it that way by providing funds to keep our reading selections up to date.

Please join Friends of the Library to further help us provide for the library's needs. New members are Jennifer and David Wood (family), Thomas H. Bunch, Gene Dickinson, Mary Dickinson, Herb Dittmer, Bettye Dittmer, Pauletter Long George, Gloria Brooks, Nelson Brooks, Lou Brown, Elizabeth Estes, Charles Estes, and Sue Hill (lifetime membership).

Family reunion

The Blackmons and Wynns will meet for a family reunion meeting on April 15, 5 p.m. at the home of Iris Norman.
