Men's retreat to be held in May
      Time is fast approaching for the 3rd annual Lincoln County Christian Men's retreat. This year's retreat is being held May 4 - 6th at Camp Daniel Marshall in Lincolnton. The retreat is a non-denominational event open to all men. The purpose of the weekend is to draw more and more men to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and to a renewed commitment of serving Him.

A narrative of Wilkes County to be released by New South Prod.
      New South Productions has embarked on a journey to execute the daunting task of capturing the oral and living history of Washington and Wilkes County, Georgia in a multi volume DVD collection of interviews. The first installment of the collection will soon be made available for sale to the general public and it features a wealth of forgotten memories of our great city and county.

McDuffie County Health Fair to be held at Thomson HS Sat.
      More than 650 people are expected to take advantage of the free health services offered at the McDuffie County Health Fair Saturday, April 14th, at Thomson High School, Thomson Georgia, from 8 until 12:00 noon. This is the 30th year of the event that draws large numbers to Thomson for free health screenings.

Commissioner Irvin issues warning on pet treats sold at area retailers
      Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tommy Irvin is alerting pet owners to a nationwide recall of a pet treat sold at Target, PetSmart and other national retailers. The treat, fed to dogs, cats and ferrets, may contain Salmonella. Dingo® CHICK'N JERKY treats, produced by Cincinnati-based Eight in One, Inc., a division of United Pet Group, Inc.

      The original Clothes Closet, located on Firetower Rd., has reopened, now as T.I.A. Community Helping Hand. All proceeds will go toward the Lincoln County Food Pantry and emergency needs of the community, 50/ 50. All donations are welcome, we will pick up. Your donations are appreciated. Fund established at FSB to meet needs of Taffy Ivey family
      A fund has been established at Farmers State Bank to benefit Taffy Ivey, who was recently diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. In addition to helping defray Ivey's medical expenses, the fund will also be used to meet the needs of her husband and children.
