The annual LCHS Junior-Senior Prom will be held Saturday, April 14, from 8 until 11 p.m. in the school cafeteria. The theme for the occasion is "Happily Every After" which means the school will be transformed into an enchanting fairy tale castle, complete with kings, queens, lofty towers, and a grand ballroom. "Peachy Clean Day" will be held in the City of Lincoln and Lincoln County on Saturday, April 21. The announcement was made at the regular meeting of the Lincolnton City Council held Monday, April 9. The Lincoln County Superior Court will hear criminal cases when the court's April Term begins Monday, April 16, at the Lincoln County Courthouse. Chief Judge Roger W. Dunaway, Jr. is the presiding judge. According to Superior Court Clerk Bruce Beggs, jurors are to report to the courtroom at 9 a.m. and check in with the bailiff upon their arrival. More...

A new Lincoln County Government building opened its doors for business on Monday, April 9. Last December, the county commission voted to purchase a house and approximately .72 acres of land on Perryman Avenue from Wayne Gibson at a cost of $165,000. Fishing Creek Bait & Tackle and the Fishing Creek Camping & RV Park will host the first-ever "Fishing Creek Crappie Fish-Off" on Saturday, April 21. Proceeds will benefit the Lincoln County Library. Competition begins at 7 a.m. and ends at 7 p.m., with prizes awarded to the three largest crappies. The first-place purse is $100; $50 will be awarded to the second and thirdplace crappies. More...

Time is fast approaching for the 3rd annual Lincoln County Christian Men's retreat. This year's retreat is being held May 4 - 6th at Camp Daniel Marshall in Lincolnton. The retreat is a non-denominational event open to all men. The purpose of the weekend is to draw more and more men to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and to a renewed commitment of serving Him. Mrs. Ella Jane Beard, 55, of Bethany Church Road, entered into rest on Saturday, March 31, 2007 at the Medical College of Georgia. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 3 at Ebenezer Baptist Church with Rev. Fred Perriman officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. More...
Spring Break 2007 local youth from Morningside Baptist Church went on a mission trip to Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. to Big Mama's house to teach vacation bible school to children that she continues to help from the local neighborhoods. They also handed out blankets and hamburgers to the homeless downtown, witnessed on the beach with salvation bracelets that they made and cleaned a homeless shelter.
