VIP up and running By: Johnnie A. Freeman

I am pleased to inform you about a newly formed group made up of twenty-three bright young people from our community. They have chosen Volunteers In Partnership, VIP, as their name. The high school students involved have goals of helping to make Lincoln County a better place in which to live. As they impact the community with volunteer acts of service, they will be exposed to many opportunities to learn and to gain leadership skills.

This past week VIP served Lincoln County by taking their Saturday morning to volunteer their time to pick up trash and to help the Clothes Closet, which is a non-profitable organization. This was the first of many service-oriented projects in which they will become involved to help the community.

Relay for Life is their next focus. Future events that VIP members will attend include leadership conferences, drug awareness programs and career choice fairs.

Look for a weekly article to track VIP's progress. Have a wonderful week!
