Community Calendar Little League registration Lincoln County Little League registration is currently underway at three convenient locations, Cliatt Crossing, Farmers and Merchants Bank and Goldman & Wengrow. Girls and boys age 5 - 16 are encouraged to sign up for a great season of baseball. Deadline to register is Feb. 16. Skills evaluation will be held Feb. 24. Children may attend who ae five years of age. The family must be a resident of Lincoln County. LWREA to meet The Lincoln-Wilkes Retired Educators Association (LWREA) will meet Thurs., Feb. 8 at Southern Elegance Bed and Breakfast, 115 West Robert Toombs Avenue, Washington, at 11 a.m. Please bring your awards and recognition sheet. All members, retired educators, and anyone who plans to retire from the field of education, are invited to attend. Battle of Kettle Creek The Battle of Kettle Creek will be held Feb. 11, 2 -4 p.m., at Elijah Clark Gravesite. The commemoration of the 228th Anniversary of the Battle of Kettle Creek will begin with a procession to Elijah Clark's gravesite led by the Georgia Society Sons of the American Revolution Color Guard, with Revolutionary War flags. Following a wreath ceremony at the gravesite, the public is invited to tour the Log Cabin Museum and enjoy Living History presentations. Admission is free with your $3 park pass. Spaghetti supper St. Paul United Methodist Church will have its Valentine Spaghetti Supper Sat., Feb. 10 from 5:30 - 8 p.m. dine in or take out. The American Cancer Society now offers its Road to Recovery program to cancer patients in Lincoln County who need transportation to and from their treatments, free of charge. Learn sign language ABC-123's of American Sign Language: A Children's Sign Language Course will be held on Sat., Feb. 10, 17 and 24 at 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. in the MCG Children's Medical Center classroom (BT 1809). The course teaches basic sign language to children ages 6 to 12 through fun activities, games and skills practice. Those interested in learning another language or in communicating with those who are hearing-impaired are encouraged to sign up. Presented by MCG Health System. Arbor Day activity Arbor Day Activity will be held at Elijah Clark State Park on Feb. 16 at 10 a.m. beside the cemetery. Join our volunteers as we prepare the ground for an April planting in our 1700s vintage garden. Admission is free with your $3 park pass. Our colonial garden was begun in October 2006 with a grant from the Georgia Master Gardeners Association through the Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP). RSVP and resident volunteers planted daffodils, lilies, and irises around Elijah Clark's gravesite, and staked off two garden plots nearby. The plots were covered with newspaper and mulch for the winter, to soften and prepare the ground for work in February.
