Area artifacts on display at library
A collection of area artifacts, belonging to Darryl Boyd (pictured), will be on display at the Lincoln County Library through the middle of January. The showpiece of Boyd’s collection is a 71st Scottish Highlander cartridge badge dating back to 1778. In the center of the badge is a thistle, which is the national flower of Scotland. Boyd found the badge in the Savannah River near the 13th Street Bridge in Augusta. The artifact, which is in excellent condition, was featured on an episode of PBS’ “History Detectives.” Pictured with Boyd is Library Director Shirley Dawkins.
