TIA Helping Hand

The original Clothes Closet, located on Firetower Rd., has reopened, now as T.I.A. Community Helping Hand. All proceeds will go toward the Lincoln County Food Pantry and emergency needs of the community, 50/50.

ACS offers RtoR prog.

The American Cancer Society now offers its Road to Recovery program to cancer patients in Lincoln County who need transportation to and from their treatments, free of charge. Drivers are trained society volunteers who pick up patients at their homes, take them to their treatment and drive them back home.

Help with heat

The Energy Assistance Program began taking applications Wed., Nov. 1 for homebound and elderly 65 years and older households to pay their home heating costs. If funds are available, it will be opened to the general public Fri., Dec. 1.

Applications for Lincoln County will be taken at The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., Nov. 8 and 9 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. only. If you cannot make these dates, you must apply at one of their local locations. For more information, please call 1-866-722-4346.

Space available

The Lincoln County Pre-K Program has spaces available at this time for the 2006 - 2007 school year.

Children must have been four years of age on or before September 1. Children may attend who ae five years of age. The family must be a resident of Lincoln County.

Parents interested in enrolling their child should contact Mollie Wagoner, Pre-K Resource Coordinator, by calling 706-359-5244 during regular school hours.

CCLC to meet

The Concerned Citizens of Lincoln County will not meet again until Thurs., Jan. 18 due to the holiday season. They will meet at the Lincoln County Library at 6:30 p.m.

Flu vaccines

The Lincoln County Health Department is expecting an arrival of flu vaccine Nov. 27. The public is advised to call the health dept. at 706-359- 3154 to confirm availability.

Comm. supper

Anthony Chapel will hold its Annual Christmas Community Supper on Wed., Dec. 20 at 6:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to join them for a covered dish supper and then stay to enjoy the Christmas play which will begin at 7:45 p.m.

Watch Night Service

Watch Night Services will be held at First Baptist Church Dec. 31 beginning at 9 p.m. The public is invited.

Christmas dance

The American Legion Post 194 will have a Christmas dance on Sat., Dec. 16 at 8:30 p.m. with DJ Pat Patterson at the post home.

Classic Re-Runs

Classic Re-Runs is a non profit clothes shop specializing in good quality, lightly worn clothes for all sizes. They also have household items, dishes, and what-knots. All money is used exclusively for people with a medical emergency in Lincoln County. Donations are tax deductible.

Classic Re-Runs is located at 108 Main Street, next door to China One. Stop by to check out their half-price sales and specials that change weekly.

Applications avail.

Youth Leadership Lincoln applications are now available for local area high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Applications may be pickedup from the Lincolnton-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce and Development Authority office, Lincoln County Family Connection office, or the Lincoln County High School Counselor’s office. Youth Leadership Lincoln is a 4-month program that will begin in January. Applications are due by Mon., Dec. 11, 2006. For more information call 706- 359-7970 or 706-359-5769.

Auxiliary to meet

The American Legion Auxiliary will have its monthly meeting on Dec. 14, 7:30 p.m. at the post home.

All members are asked to bring a $10 gift wrapped and finger foods. The items for the food panty are: canned fruit and instant potatoes.

Living history perform.

The Robert Toombs House State Historic Sites’ living history performers will present a delightful Christmas experience on Sat., Dec. 9 from 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

As part of the Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites’ 75th anniversary celebration, “Santa and his elves” will bring to life seventy-five years of Christmas music by bringing the lyrics to life. Admission is free. Contact Ashley or Marcia for more information at 706-678-2226.

Candlelight service

Harmony Baptist Church Missionary Ministry will be hosting its annual “Missionary Candlelight Service” on Sun., Dec. 17, at 5 p.m. Rev. Robert Crawford and Mt. China banquet

Woodlawn United Methodist Church, Augusta, will hold its 6th Annual Christmas China Banquet on Dec. 17 at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $30 per couple. All previous table captains need to contact Cathy Boyles at 706- 863-5259 to check in and/or to purchase tickets for the banquet.

Young Miss Pageant

The Lincoln Young Miss Pageant is scheduled for Tues., Jan. 23, 2007 in the Lincoln County High School Auditorium. Future Business Leaders of America is sponsoring this event.

Girls in kindergarten through fifth grade are eligible. They must either attend school in Lincoln County, live in Lincoln County or have a parent/ guardian who works in Lincoln County.

Applications will be available at the chamber, elementary school and from Mrs. Dukes, FBLA adviser. The deadline to submit the $30 fee and application is Jan. 12 to Mrs. Dukes at LCHS.

Christmas supper and program date changed Goshen Baptist Church’s Christmas supper and musical program has been changed to Fri., Dec. 15 at 7 p.m. so we won’t be competing with the Red Devils’ Championship! We’ll have the same good food and fellowship.

Tabernacle Baptist Church will have its Christmas Program on Dec. 23 at 5:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to come out and celebrate the true meaning of Christmas.

Fund set up for Myers

A fund has been established at Farmers State Bank to help Ray Myers with medical expenses. Ray has recently been diagnosed with cancer and has a long and expensive road ahead of him. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Free legal help

Georgia Legal Services Program

GLSP) staff will be in Lincoln County to meet with senior citizens wanting free legal, non-criminal, help on a first-come, first-serve basis at The Lincoln County Senior Center, 160 May Ave., on Wed., Dec. 13 from 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Christmas in Harlem

The City of Harlem will hold its 4th Annual Christmas in the Heart of Downtown Harlem on Sat., Dec. 9. The day will begin with breakfast with Santa, reservations must be made by Nov. 28 as seating is limited.

A craft show/demonstrations will be held from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. The parade will begin at 11 a.m. If you would like to set up a craft booth or to reserve your spot for breakfast, please contact Kathy Ham at 706- 556-0401.

Pep rally Friday

There will be a public pep rally with the defending State Champions parading through the streets of Lincolnton on Friday evening at 6:30.

The Red Devils will arrive at the courthouse to greet fans, watch highlights of the season on the big screen, hear the latest “LC Red Tune”, possibly be a part of a live local news broadcast, meet our special guest and most of all show support for the best Class A team in Georgia.

Be sure to sign our “We Want It” pledge while at the pep rally.
