Chamber announces parade winners

Bruce Beggs, grand marshal of the 2006 Lincolnton Holiday Parade, and his wife, Beth, led the parade in a 1931 Ford Model A convertible coupe driven by Kevin Wade.

The weather was crisp and clear for the large crowd that turned out for the 2006 Lincolnton Holiday Parade held Saturday, December 2.

The parade is sponsored annually by the Lincolnton-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Holidays in Olde Lincoln Towne Festival.

The winners in the various parade categories were as follows:

Traditional Floats - St. Luke Baptist Church, first place; Spratlin Hardware & Building Supply, second place; and Lincoln County Head Start, third place.

Religious Floats - Abundant Life Church of God, first place; Allen Johnson, second place; and Newberry Missionary Baptist Church, third place.

Novelty Floats - Georgia Power Company, first place; Lee Builders, Inc., second place; and K.B. Kids, third place.

Tractors - Jerry Stone, first place, and Buddy Hawes, second place.

Golf Carts - Aycock Truck Parts, Woodchip Transport, B.B. Carriers, and Jason Aycock Trucking, first place, and Bethany Beggs, second place.

ABUNDANT LIFE CHURCH OF GOD First Place - Religious Floats Best Christmas Entry

Decorated Horses/Mules - Harold Goldman, first place.

Classic Cars - RE/MAX at the Lakes, first place.

Most Original Entry - Aycock Truck Parts, Woodchip Transport, B.B. Carriers, and Jason Aycock Trucking.

Best Christmas Entry - Abundant Life Church of God.

The winning entries were awarded "LincolnCHECKS" which can be redeemed at any participating chamber business.

The parade was expertly coordinated for the chamber by Gena Freeman.
