Community Calendar TIA Helping Hand The original Clothes Closet, located on Firetower Rd., has reopened, now as T.I.A. Community Helping Hand. All proceeds will go toward the Lincoln County Food Pantry and emergency needs of the community, 50/50. All donations are welcome, we will pick up. Your donations are appreciated. The American Cancer Society now offers its Road to Recovery program to cancer patients in Lincoln County who need transportation to and from their treatments, free of charge. Drivers are trained society volunteers who pick up patients at their homes, take them to their treatment and drive them back home. Help with heat The Energy Assistance Program began taking applications Wed., Nov. 1 for homebound and elderly 65 years and older households to pay their home heating costs. If funds are available, it will be opened to the general public Fri., Dec. 1. Applications for Lincoln County will be taken at The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., Nov. 8 and 9 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. only. If you cannot make these dates, you must apply at one of their local locations. For more information, please call 1-866-722-4346. Toy Run Dec. 9 Lincoln Iron Horse will hold its annual Toy Run on Saturday, December 9 beginning at 10:00 a.m. Everyone will meet at the American Legion Post 194, a short ride will leave the Post at 10:30 and travel to the DFACS office. Unwrapped toy donations may be dropped off at the Post between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. A truck and trailer will be there for larger toys. Toys will benefit the Lincoln County Department of Family and Children Services. Please help make this a special Christmas for the needy children. Space available The Lincoln County Pre-K Program has spaces available at this time for the 2006 - 2007 school year. Children must have been four years of age on or before September 1. Children may attend who ae five years of age. The family must be a resident of Flu vaccines The Lincoln County Health Department is expecting an arrival of flu vaccine Nov. 27. The public is advised to call the health dept. at 706-359- 3154 to confirm availability. Comm. supper Anthony Chapel will hold its Annual Christmas Community Supper on Wed., Dec. 20 at 6:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to join them for a covered dish supper and then stay to enjoy the Christmas play which will begin at 7:45 p.m. SALS to meet The Sons of the American Legion will have its monthly meeting on Dec. 12, 7:30 p.m. at the post home. All members are asked to please attend meeting. Classic Re-Runs Classic Re-Runs is a non profit clothes shop specializing in good quality, lightly worn clothes for all sizes. They also have household items, dishes, and what-knots. All money is used exclusively for people with a medical emergency in Lincoln County. Donations are tax deductible. Classic Re-Runs is located at 108 Main Street, next door to China One. Stop by to check out their half-price sales and specials that change weekly. Youth Leadership Lincoln applications are now available for local area high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Applications may be pickedup from the Lincolnton-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce and Development Authority office, Lincoln County Family Connection office, or the Lincoln County High School Counselor's office. Auxiliary to meet The American Legion Auxiliary will have its monthly meeting on Dec. 14, 7:30 p.m. at the post home. All members are asked to bring a $10 gift wrapped and finger foods. The items for the food panty are: canned fruit and instant potatoes. Living history perform. The Robert Toombs House State Historic Sites' living history performers will present a delightful Christmas experience on Sat., Dec. 9 from 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. As part of the Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites' 75th anniversary celebration, "Santa and his elves" will bring to life seventy-five years of Christmas music by bringing the lyrics to life. Candlelight service Harmony Baptist Church Missionary Ministry will be hosting its annual "Missionary Candlelight Service" on Sun., Dec. 17, at 5 p.m. Rev. Robert Crawford and Mt. Christmas concert First Assembly of God will present a Christmas Concert on Sun., Dec. 10 at 6 p.m. The concert will feature the Sanctuary Choir and Children's Choir along with soloists, trios and ensembles. Rec Board meeting The Lincoln County Recreation Board will hold a called meeting on Tues., Dec. 12, 7 p.m. at the Curry Colvin Complex. The annual Holiday Tour of Homes, sponsored by the Mc- Cormick Garden Club, will be held, Sat., Dec. 9, 1 - 5 p.m. Tickets are available at the McCormick Chamber of Commerce, The McCray House, Our Place on Main, The MACK, and 7 Daffodils, all in Mc- Cormick. Tickets are $10 if purchased in advance and $12 at the door on the day of the tour. Six homes in McCormick and Savannah Lakes Village will be open for viewing, each decorated for the holidays in the creative and personal style of the owners. Fund set up for Myers A fund has been established at Farmers State Bank to help Ray Myers with medical expenses. Ray has recently been diagnosed with cancer and has a long and expensive road ahead of him. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Free legal help Georgia Legal Services Program (GLSP) staff will be in Lincoln County to meet with senior citizens wanting free legal, non-criminal, help on a first-come, first-serve basis at The Lincoln County Senior Center, 160 May Ave., on Wed., Dec. 13 from 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. If you are unable to meet with them on this date, you may call them any day at 1-800-248-6697. Christmas in Harlem The City of Harlem will hold its 4th Annual Christmas in the Heart of Downtown Harlem on Sat., Dec. 9.
