This Saturday, December 2, will be a big day at the library. From 9 until 4, the library will be the place to be. Our semi-annual book sale will contain between 2,000 and 3,000 books (paperbacks, hardbacks, and best-sellers) for sale at bargain prices, 25 cents to one dollar. The books will be on tables in front of the library.

The new 2007 Historical Calendar will be for sale for $5. This year's calendar contains many pictures from the past, and its cover features the 1925 high school football team. It is a very limited edition calendar and will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis. Advanced sales can be completed by dropping by the library to pre-pay for the number of calendars you want. This may be the last calendar of its kind since FOL hasn't decided whether or not to continue the project.

We will also have a bake sale of pies and cakes you can freeze to eliminate some holiday baking. Packaged individual treats of brownies, cookies and Rice Krispy squares will also be available. In the food section we will have chicken and dumplings prepared by Jackie Crook from the American Legion Auxiliary and hot soup and cornbread to warm you up on what is promised to be a chilly day.

For the children, there will be face painting for 50 cents and a variety of games that can be played for 25 cents each. Among the games will be a moon walk, bowling, ring toss, go fish, and pick-up-ducks. Every child is guaranteed a prize.

The commemorative Christmas ornaments from years past will be sold for the bargain-basement price of 25 cents each. The original price was $6. At this price you could use them for wreath-making.

FOL's most recent project inside the library is the purchase of a variety of DVDs which can be checked out by patrons. The new additions are primarily holiday selections. Among the ones for kids are all the Charlie Brown movies and an assortment of American Girl movies, which are not something you can pick up just anywhere.

When you visit the library on Saturday, we hope you will consider joining FOL. Your inexpensive membership dues help us fund projects for the library.
