LCHS/MS students participate in GMEA District 10 honor chorus

Students from Lincoln County Middle School and Lincoln County High School attended the Georgia Music Educators Association District 10 honor chorus on Monday, November 6. The annual event was hosted by the First Baptist Church of Augusta. The students were selected by Carolee Hobbins, the choral director at the middle school and high school.

Upon arriving at the church Monday morning, the students spent the entire day rehearsing music with their guest directors. Short breaks were taken throughout the day to include time for lunch and dinner which was supplied by the church.

Robin Yackley from Alpharetta Middle School directed the middle school choir with Tom Yackley from

Alpharetta High School directing the high school choir. Both groups rehearsed and performed music that had been chosen previously by their directors. The day culminated with a concert Monday evening to a standing room only crowd in the church sanctuary.

LCMS students who attended were Elizabeth Aaron, Meg Ball, Luke Collins, Carrie Ann Crook, Taylor Dukes. Kristen Freeman, Eleese Matthews, Devante Starks, and Will Strickland.

LCHS students involved in this event were Kayley Bannister, Julie Bennett, Emily Diamond, Sarah Herring, Kendall Huff, Peyson Moss, Jaime Turner, and Emily Wright.
