LCHS debate team adds eight more awards to its season total

The LCHS debate team has added eight more awards to its total for the 2006-07 school year in competitions at Chamblee High School on October 21 and Trion High School on November 2.

Taking honors at Chamblee High School were Abigail Minor, who was the open division's third-ranked speaker, and Sarah Herring, who was a finalist in humorous interpretation. Also competing in open policy were Kitty Ball (Minor's partner) and the team of T. J. Carani/Nikolas Spens; competing in novice policy were the teams of Andrew McQuigg/Crystal Ransom and Kyrstie Scales/Roxanne Ware. Although they finished outside the top five and did not receive awards, McQuigg/Ransom had a 3-1 record, and Ransom was the tournament's tenth-ranked novice speaker.

At Trion High School, the novice team of Crystal Ransom/Nikolas Spens won the novice division championship, with Spens being the tournament's second-ranked novice speaker. In the open policy division, Abigail Minor was the tournament's second-ranked speaker, and Kayla Crookham was ranked fourth. In humorous interpretation, Amanda Dion and Sarah Herring finished first and second respectively.

Also competing for Lincoln County were T. J. Carani (Minor's partner), Amy Dandron (Crookham's partner), and the novice team of Kyrstie Scales/ Roxanne Ware (who received verbal recognition for their fifth-place finish).

LCHS students have won a total of 22 awards this year in speech and debate competition.
