The choral music departments at LCMS and LCHS will present "Folk Songs From Here and There" on Saturday, November 18, beginning at 7:30 p.m. at Lincolnton Baptist Church.
The concert will feature folk songs from around the world.
The choirs are under the direction of Carolee Hobbins, choral music teacher at LCMS/LCHS.
In addition to English, the Eighth- Grade Chorus is scheduled to perform selections in German, Spanish, French, and Hebrew, and the LCHS Chorus will sing in Spanish and Hebrew.
Also, the girls in the high school chorus will perform "Reuben, Reuben" and "Hello, Girls," and the boys, "Liza Jane," and an eightmember ensemble from the chorus will sing an arrangement of the wellknown folk song "Shenandoah."
Likewise during the evening, the LCMS and LCHS choirs will join forces for a beautiful rendition of "Danny Boy," under the direction of Dr. William Hobbins of Augusta State University.
Peyson Moss, a senior at LCHS, serves as the accompanist for the choirs.
Tickets for the concert are $5 each and may be purchased from any chorus member or at the LCMS office from Nancy Hardeman. Gold cards will be accepted.
Moreover, tickets will not be sold the evening of the concert.
According to Carolee Hobbins, "These students have worked very hard all semester to prepare for this concert. I hope the community will come out and support these young people as they celebrate the rich legacy of 'Folk Songs From Here and There.'"
