TIA Helping Hand

The original Clothes Closet, located on Firetower Rd., has reopened, now as T.I.A. Community Helping Hand. All proceeds will go toward the Lincoln County Food Pantry and emergency needs of the community, 50/50.

ACS offers RtoR prog.

The American Cancer Society now offers its Road to Recovery program to cancer patients in Lincoln County who need transportation to and from their treatments, free of charge. Drivers are trained society volunteers who pick up patients at their homes, take them to their treatment and drive them back home.

Classic Re-Runs

Classic Re-Runs is a non profit clothes shop specializing in good quality, lightly worn clothes for all sizes. They also have household items, dishes, and what-knots. All money is used exclusively for people with a medical emergency in Lincoln County. Donations are tax deductible.

Classic Re-Runs is located at 108 Main Street, next door to China One. Stop by to check out their half-price sales and specials that change weekly.

Chicken plate sale

Barbecue chicken plates will be sold Sat., Nov. 4 at the Lincolnton Volunteer Fire Department from 11 a.m. unitl sold out. Cost is $5 per plate and will be sold on a first-come, firstserve basis.

Fall Festival at Loco

Loco Baptist Church invites the public to its Fall Festival and Concert, an outdoor event with food, games, hayride and music by Soul Revival on Sat., Nov. 4 from 4:30 p.m. until. The concert will start at 6 p.m. Admission is a canned food item with a quarter taped to the top. A love offering will be taken for Soul Revival. All proceeds will benefit the Lincoln County Food Pantry. Dress appropriately for weather all events are outdoors. Bring blankets and lawn chairs and come enjoy some Christian fellowship.

Church anniversary

Ebenezer Baptist Church will celebrate its 130th church anniversary on Sun., Nov. 19 at 2 p.m. Rev. Nathaniel Irvin and Old Storm Branch Baptist Church will be in charge of the service. The public is invited. Rev. Fred Perriman is pastor.

Auxiliary to meet

The American Legion Auxiliary will have their monthly meeting Nov. 9, 7:30 p.m. at the post home. Items for the food pantry for November are package stuffing mix, rice and cranberry sauce. All members need to attend this meeting.

Bingo is back

The American Legion Post 194 will start Bingo back on Nov. 3 at 7:30 p.m. Jackpot is $600. Everyone is welcome to come down and enjoy good food such as hot dogs, chips, nachos and drinks operated by the American Legion Auxiliary.

Youth Explosion

First Baptist Church will have Youth Explosion Oct. 30 - Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. nightly. Guests speakers will be, Mon., - Rev. Ricky Battle; Tues., - Evang. Debra Lamkin; Wed., Evang. Music prog. at Parks

Parks Grove F.B.H. Church in Lincolnton, will have a music program on Nov. 4 at 6 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend. Rev. Tonita Cody is pastor.

LCES Book Fair

Lincoln County Elementary School will host a Scholastic Book Fair Mon., Oct. 30 - Fri., Nov. 3. Family afternoon will be Wed., Nov. 1 from 3 - 5 p.m. An information letter has been sent home with the children. Hope to see you there!

Mobile mammography

The University Mobile Mammography Unit will be at the Lincoln County Health Department on Nov. 14 and Nov. 28.

Screening mammograms for women age 40 and above are usually covered by private insurance and Medicare. Call the health department for more information.

Tignall Fall festival The annual I'd Rather Be in Tignall Fall Festival will be held Sat., Nov. 4 from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the old school grounds in Tignall. The public is invited.

Veteran's program

Ebenezer Baptist Church will observe its annual Veteran's Day Program on Sun., Nov. 12 at 10:45 a.m. Command Sgt. Maj. Jesse Andrews, Jr., will be the guest speaker. All veterans and the public are invited. Rev. Fred Perriman is pastor.

SALS to meet

The Sons of the American Legion Squadron 194 will have their monthly meeting Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. SAL commander Paul Rentz asks all members to be present.

Looking for talent

Christmas in Harlem

The City of Harlem will hold its 4th Annual Christmas in the Heart of Downtown Harlem on Sat., Dec. 9. The day will begin with breakfast with Santa, reservations must be made by Nov. 28 as seating is limited.

A craft show/demonstrations will be held from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. The parade will begin at 11 a.m. If you would like to set up a craft booth or to reserve your spot for breakfast, please contact Kathy Ham at 706-556-0401.

Benefit discussion

A meeting will be held on Thurs., Nov. 2, 7 p.m. at Lincolnton United Methodist Church to discuss details for Larry Beggs family benefit barbecue. The benefit will be held Nov. 18 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Benefit car wash

Fun Feast

St. Paul United Methodist Church invites the public to its Fun Feast on Sat., Nov. 11 at 6 p.m.

The evening will begin with a hotdog supper and then fun for the whole family with games.

Little League meeting

SOAR at park

Representatives from SOAR (Save Our American Raptors) will bring a variety of live raptors for a fascinating program on protecting and rehabilitating birds of prey at Elijah Clark State Park Group Shelter #1 on Sat., Nov. 11 at 4 p.m. Cost is $3 park pass.

Christmas Child

Morningside Baptist Church will be a drop off point for Operation Christmas Child which uses the power of a simple gift to share a sense of hope with suffering children.

Everyone is asked to fill one or more shoe boxes with gifts and drop them off at Morningside the week of Nov. 13 - 20. First Baptist Church will celebrate its 16th pastoral anniversary for Pastor Dennis J. Quinn on Sun., Nov. 5 at 2 p.m. Rev. James A. Hogan, Sr., of New Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Augusta will be the guest speaker. Everyone is welcome.

Breakfast buffet Faith Temple's First Saturday Breakfast Buffet will be held Sat., Nov. 4 from 7 - 10 a.m. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children 11 and under.

Industry announcement Governor Sonny Perdue, the Lincoln County Board of Commissioners, and the Lincoln County Development Authority invites the public to the Lincoln County Industrial Park on Old Petersburg Road on Fri., Nov. 3 at 3:30 p.m. for a new industry announcement.

Fall retesting

The fall retesting for the graduation test will be held according to the following schedule: Mon., Nov. 6 - language arts; Tues., Nov. 7 - math; Wed., Nov. 8 - social studies; and Thurs., Nov. 9 - science.

All tests will begin promptly at 8:15 each morning. Students and others who have not passed all parts of the graduation test are urged to participate in the testing.

EAP now taking applications for heating assistance

The Energy Assistance Program began taking applications Wed., Nov. 1 for homebound and elderly 65 years and older households to pay their home heating costs. If funds are available, it will be opened to the general public Fri., Dec. 1.

Applications for Lincoln County will be taken at The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., Nov. 8 and 9 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. only. If you cannot make these dates, you must apply at one of their local locations. For more information, please call 1-866-722-4346.

Ladies Bible study

Lincolnton Baptist Church will host a ladies Bible study entitled, "Lord, I Want to Know You" by Kay Arthur. The Study will be held in the conference room on Tuesdays from 7 - 9 p.m. or Thursdays from 9 - 11 a.m.

This is a 16 week study and although it has already begun, it's not too late to join in. The cost is $15 per book.

Committee meeting Newberry Missionary Baptist The Lincoln County Democratic Committee will meet at the Lincoln County Library Annex on Sat., Oct. 28 at 8 a.m. Agenda items GOTV, November election and committee officers.

Musical concert

Church Mass Choir will host a musical concert on Sat., Nov. 4 at 4 p.m. The choir is under the leadership of Mr. Gary L. Norman. Rev. Willie J. White is pastor.

LCMS pageant

The Lincoln County Middle School Pageant will be held Thurs., Nov. 30. Deadline to enter is Nov. 21 with an entry fee of $35. Late entries may be made no later than 3 p.m. on Mon., Nov. 27 with a $45 fee. Entry forms have been given to every girl in the middle school, if you need another one, you may pick it up at the LCMS office.

Advanced classes

An advanced class for those who have taken basic and intermediate computer literacy with Adult Education, McCormick County Schools, is now being offered. Classes will begin Tues., Nov. 7 and will be every Tues., and Thurs., from 2 - 4 p.m. for four weeks. Cost is $15 administrative fee and you must pre-register and pre-pay by mailing a check to: Mc- Cormick County Schools, c/o Jim Morrow, 202 Mallard Lane, McCormick, S.C. 29835.

Revival services

Morningside Baptist Church will hold revival services Nov. 5 - 8. Morningside youth pastor, Bill Boland will deliver the message at 11 a.m. on Sun., Nov. 5. Associational Missionary James Bland of the Georgia Baptist Association will speak Sunday evening at 7 p.m.

Pastor Russell Davis of New Work Baptist Church, Pastor Dan Rosser of Lincolnton Baptist Church and Pastor Bobby Adams of Goshen Baptist Church will preach the nightly services at 7 p.m.

The community is invited. Morningside is located at 483 Elm St., Lincolnton.

LWREA to meet

The Lincoln-Wilkes Retired Educators Association will meet at 11 a.m. on Thurs., Nov. 9 at Ryan's Family Steak House in Thomson. Remember to bring your 2006-2007 GREA copy of awards and recognition guidelines.

First Baptist Church Gospel Choir will celebrate its anniversary on Nov. 19 at 2:30 p.m. All area churches and the public is welcome.

Homecoming & revival

New Hope Baptist Church will have Homecoming on Sun., Nov. 5 at 11 a.m. with Dr. Al Wright. Special music will be by Barbara Boddie. Dinner on the ground will follow, you are asked to bring your favorite dishes to share with others for this great New Hope tradition.

Fall revival will follow on Mon., Tues., and Wed. nights at 7 p.m. with Dr. Wright preaching and Barbara Boddie leading the music. Plan for a great day at Homecoming and a great revival to follow.

ACT testing

The deadline to register for the December 9, 2006 ACT test is Nov. 3. Late registration deadline is Nov. 16 with a fee of $19 in addition to the $29 ACT fee.

Students may register online at www.actstudent.org or by getting an application from their high school counselor and mailing before the deadline.

Vendors wanted

The Lincolnton-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce will host their 9th Annual Holidays In Olde Lincoln Towne Festival and Holiday Parade on Sat., Dec. 2, 2006 12:00 - 6:00 p.m. downtown Lincolnton with the holiday parade beginning at 3 p.m.

Zoning meetings

The Lincoln County Planning & Zoning Board meetings for 2006 are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on the following dates in the Commis-sioner's Conference Room on the first floor of the Lincoln County Courthouse: Mon., Nov. 6; and Mon., Dec. 4.

Fund set up for Myers

A fund has been established at Farmers State Bank to help Ray Myers with medical expenses. Ray has recently been diagnosed with cancer and has a long and expensive road ahead of him. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Menu proposals wanted

The Lincolnton-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce is now accepting menu proposals and bids from current members for the annual Breakfast With Our Legislators to be held Thurs., Dec. 7, 2006, 8 - 10 a.m. at The Lincoln Center. The Lincoln County Board of Tax Assessors regular meetings for 2006 will be: Nov. 21; and Dec. 19.

The meetings will start at 4 p.m. in the Lincoln County Courtroom.
