Turner, Barnett honored with southern supper Engaged couple Ashley Turner and Ames Barnett were honored with a Family Southern Supper on Saturday evening, September 30, at the Groves-May House in the Lincoln County Historical Park. Hosts and hostesses for the occasion were uncles and aunts of the prospective bridegroom, Mr. and Mrs. Fred McWhorter, Mr. and Mrs. Tom McWhorter, and Mr. and Mrs. Price McWhorter of Lincolnton and Mr. and Mrs. Mason McKnight of Augusta. The couple chose casual attire for the occasion. The bride-elect wore jeans with a sparkling light pink long sleeve ribbed top. Multi-colored gourds, fall leaves and gourd-filled glass vases with lighted candles adorned the mantel in the main dining room. Table arrangements were in vegetable cans using fall flowers, eggplants and raffia. Arrangements of sunflowers were used in other locations throughout the house. Lit torches on the lawn added light where wrought iron tables were covered in red checked cloths and decorated with the same flowers in the vegetable cans accented with raffia. A delicious Southern meal was from the buffet. Approximately forty guests attended. Special guests included the bride-elect's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Turner of Lawrenceville; the prospective bridegroom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Danny Barnett and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ash Barnett, Mr. and Mrs. Jamie Barnett and Mrs. Jimmy Barnett of Washington, Mr. and Mrs. Athen Walden of Twin City and Maegan Barnett of Thomson. |
