TIA Helping Hand

The original Clothes Closet, located on Firetower Rd., has reopened, now as T.I.A. Community Helping Hand. All proceeds will go toward the Lincoln County Food Pantry and emergency needs of the community, 50/50.

All donations are welcome, we will pick up. Your donations are appreciated. Hours of operation are: Thurs., 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.; Sat., 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. For more information, please call 706-359-7838 or 706-359-7345.

ACS offers RtoR prog.

The American Cancer Society now offers its Road to Recovery program to cancer patients in Lincoln County who need transportation to and from their treatments, free of charge. Drivers are trained society volunteers who pick up patients at their homes, take them to their treatment and drive them back home.

Classic Re-Runs

Classic Re-Runs is a non profit clothes shop specializing in good quality, lightly worn clothes for all sizes. They also have household items, dishes, and what-knots. All money is used exclusively for people with a medical emergency in Lincoln County. Donations are tax deductible.

Classic Re-Runs is located at 108 Main Street, next door to China One. Stop by to check out their half-price sales and specials that change weekly.

Chicken plate sale

Barbecue chicken plates will be sold Sat., Nov. 4 at the Lincolnton Volunteer Fire Department from 11 a.m. unitl sold out. Cost is $5 per plate and will be sold on a first-come, firstserve basis.

Musical program

First Baptist Church will have a musical program Nov. 4 at 5 p.m. Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy some good singing. Admission is free.

Looking for talent

Church anniversary

Ebenezer Baptist Church will celebrate its 130th church anniversary on Sun., Nov. 19 at 2 p.m. Rev. Nathaniel Irvin and Old Storm Branch Baptist Church will be in charge of the service. The public is invited. Rev. Fred Perriman is pastor.

Revival Solomon

Solomon Pool Deliverance Ministries, in Lincolnton, will have revival Oct. 25 - 27 at 7:30 p.m. nightly. Guest minister will be Dr. Bobbie J. (Willingham) Hamilton, pastor of Holyghost Overcoming Power Evangelistic Pentecostal Temple, Inc. in Jacksonville, Fla. All church families are invited.

Fall Festival at Loco

Loco Baptist Church invites the public to its Fall Festival and Concert, an outdoor event with food, games, hayride and music by Soul Revival on Sat., Nov. 4 from 4:30 p.m. until. The concert will start at 6 p.m. Admission is a canned food item with a quarter taped to the top. A love offering will be taken for Soul Revival. All proceeds will benefit the Lincoln County Food Pantry.

Dress appropriately for weather - all events are outdoors. Bring blankets and lawn chairs and come enjoy some Christian fellowship.

Lay Day at Mulberry

Mulberry C.M.E. Church will host its annual Lay Day on Sun., Oct. 29 at 3 p.m. Special guests will be Newberry Missionary Baptist Church Sanctuary Choir. Everyone is invited to attend. Rev. Larry Fryer is pastor.

Auxiliary to meet

The American Legion Auxiliary will have their monthly meeting Nov. 9, 7:30 p.m. at the post home. Items for the food pantry for November are package stuffing mix, rice and cranberry sauce. All members need to attend this meeting.

Bingo is back

The American Legion Post 194 will start Bingo back on Nov. 3 at 7:30 p.m. Jackpot is $600. Everyone is welcome to come down and enjoy good food such as hot dogs, chips, nachos and drinks operated by the American Legion Auxiliary.

Youth Explosion

First Baptist Church will have Youth Explosion Oct. 30 - Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. nightly. Guests speakers will be, Mon., - Rev. Ricky Battle; Tues., - Evang. Debra Lamkin; Wed., - Evang. Music prog. at Parks

Parks Grove F.B.H. Church in Lincolnton, will have a music program on Nov. 4 at 6 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend. Rev. Tonita Cody is pastor.

LCES Book Fair

Lincoln County Elementary School will host a Scholastic Book Fair Mon., Oct. 30 - Fri., Nov. 3. Family afternoon will be Wed., Nov. 1 from 3 - 5 p.m. An information letter has been sent home with the children. Hope to see you there!

Mobile mammography

The University Mobile Mammography Unit will be at the Lincoln County Health Department on Nov. 14 and Nov. 28.

Screening mammograms for women age 40 and above are usually covered by private insurance and Medicare. Call the health department for more information.

Tignall Fall festival The annual I'd Rather Be in Tignall Fall Festival will be held Sat., Nov. 4 from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the old school grounds in Tignall. The public is invited.

Veteran's program

Ebenezer Baptist Church will observe its annual Veteran's Day Program on Sun., Nov. 12 at 10:45 a.m. Command Sgt. Maj. Jesse Andrews, Jr., will be the guest speaker. All veterans and the public are invited. Rev. Fred Perriman is pastor.

SALS to meet

The Sons of the American Legion Squadron 194 will have their monthly meeting Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. SAL commander Paul Rentz asks all members to be present.

Sun. night singing

There will be a fifth Sunday night singing at Loco Baptist Church on Oct. 29 at 6 p.m. Refreshments will follow.

Business luncheon

The Lincoln County Historical Society will have a covered dish lunch business meeting on Nov. 1, 2006, 12 noon at the May House. The Pioneer Day Planning Team will present plans for new Pioneer Day activities.

Pioneer Day will start at 10 a.m. and run until 3 p.m. Progress on the One Room School House has been great and will support the historical lectures planned. This will be a very interesting meeting and all members and anyone interested in having a good time on Pioneer Day are urged to bring something good to eat.

Revival services

Morningside Baptist Church will hold revival services Nov. 5 - 8. Morningside youth pastor, Bill Boland will deliver the message at 11 a.m. on Sun., Nov. 5. Associational Missionary James Bland of the Georgia Baptist Association will speak Sunday evening at 7 p.m.

Pastor Russell Davis of New Work Baptist Church, Pastor Dan Rosser of Lincolnton Baptist Church and Pastor Bobby Adams of Goshen Baptist Church will preach the nightly services at 7 p.m.

The community is invited. Morningside is located at 483 Elm St., Lincolnton.

Ladies Bible study

Lincolnton Baptist Church will host a ladies Bible study entitled, "Lord, I Want to Know You" by Kay Arthur. The Study will be held in the conference room on Tuesdays from 7 - 9 p.m. or Thursdays from 9 - 11 a.m.

This is a 16 week study and although it has already begun, it's not too late to join in. The cost is $15 per book.

Committee meeting

The Lincoln County Democratic Committee will meet at the Lincoln County Library Annex on Sat., Oct. 28 at 8 a.m. Agenda items GOTV, November election and committee officers.

LWREA to meet

The Lincoln-Wilkes Retired Educators Association will meet at 11 a.m. on Thurs., Nov. 9 at Ryan's Family Steak House in Thomson. Remember to bring your 2006-2007 GREA copy of awards and recognition guidelines.

All retired educators are invited to attend. Frances F. Zellars is president.

Musical concert

Newberry Missionary Baptist Church Mass Choir will host a musical concert on Sat., Nov. 4 at 4 p.m. The choir is under the leadership of Mr. Gary L. Norman. Rev. Willie J. White is pastor.

LCMS pageant

The Lincoln County Middle School Pageant will be held Thurs., Nov. 30. Deadline to enter is Nov. 21 with an entry fee of $35. Late entries may be made no later than 3 p.m. on Mon., Nov. 27 with a $45 fee. Entry forms have been given to every girl in the middle school, if you need another one, you may pick it up at the LCMS office.

Zellars to speak

First Baptist Church will have a Praise and Worship Program Sun., Oct. 29 at 3 p.m. Guest speaker will be Pastor Peggy Zellars of Solomon Pool Holiness Deliverance Church in Lincolnton. Rev. Dennis Quinn is pastor.

Advanced classes

An advanced class for those who have taken basic and intermediate computer literacy with Adult Education, McCormick County Schools, is now being offered. Classes will begin Tues., Nov. 7 and will be every Tues., and Thurs., from 2 - 4 p.m. for four weeks. Cost is $15 administrative fee and you must pre-register and pre-pay by mailing a check to: Mc- Cormick County Schools, c/o Jim Morrow, 202 Mallard Lane, McCormick, S.C. 29835.

Family meeting

There will be a meeting at the home of Joe Louis and Gwen Hearst at 5 p.m. on Sat., Oct. 28.

Halloween carnival

A Halloween Carnival will be held at Fountain Campground on Sat., Oct. 28. Times and events are: 5:00-5:15 Trick or Treat; 5:15-6:15 children's games ($1 ea. unlimited play); 6:15- 7:15 supper $5 adults/$2.50 children, (hotdog, chili, slaw, baked beans, chips, dessert & drink); 7:15-8:00 cake walk ($.50 per walk); 7:30-until haunted house and hayrides; 8:00- until Bingo ($.50 per game).

Adult admission is canned goods for "It's Spooky to Be Hungry" food drive.

First Baptist Church Gospel Choir will celebrate its anniversary on Nov. 19 at 2:30 p.m. All area churches and the public is welcome.

First Baptist Church will celebrate its 16th pastoral anniversary for Pastor Dennis J. Quinn on Sun., Nov. 5 at 2 p.m. Rev. James A. Hogan, Sr., of New Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Augusta will be the guest speaker. Everyone is welcome.

SS anniversary

Newberry Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate its Sunday School anniversary on Sun., Nov. 5 at 10 a.m. Everyone is invited to attend. Rev. Willie J. White is pastor. Newberry to host 10th District Women of Excellence program

In celebration of The 10th District Women of Excellence Celebration/ Program, Newberry Missionary Baptist Church will host the 8th anniversary conference on Saturday, October 28, 2006. This grand event is scheduled to begin with on-site registration from 9:00 - 9:30 a.m. The program is slated to begin promptly at 9:30 a.m. and last until 1:30 p.m. A minimum registration fee of $15.00 per person is being taxed to support the luncheon and other event costs.

The 10th District Women of Excellence Celebration/Program is an extension of the Women's Auxiliary to the General Missionary Baptist Convention of Georgia, Inc., serving as a vehicle to unite the Christian women in the state of Georgia for outreach ministry.

All women in the area churches are invited and encouraged to attend. The conference will consist of three sessions to promote spiritual, physical and personal awareness for a welldeveloped woman.

ACT testing

The deadline to register for the December 9, 2006 ACT test is Nov. 3. Late registration deadline is Nov. 16 with a fee of $19 in addition to the $29 ACT fee.

Students may register online at www.actstudent.org or by getting an application from their high school counselor and mailing before the deadline.

Vendors wanted

The Lincolnton-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce will host their 9th Annual Holidays In Olde Lincoln Towne Festival and Holiday Parade on Sat., Dec. 2, 2006 12:00 - 6:00 p.m. downtown Lincolnton with the holiday parade beginning at 3 p.m.

Sonny Perdue, governor of the state of Georgia, has proclaimed November 5, 2006 as Retired Educators Day in Georgia.

The proclamation recognizes the lasting contributions of the more than 60,000 retired educators who dedicated their professional lives to the education, growth and development of Georgia's youth and to the betterment of our state and society.

Everyone is encouraged to recognize and show appreciation to our retired educators on this special day.

Fall festival

McCormick Health Care Center will host a fall festival on Tues., Oct. 31 at their facility at 204 Holiday Rd. The festivities will be in the main dining room from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Everyone is invited to join them for an exciting time of fun and games. Dress in costume if you'd like. All proceeds will benefit our resident's activities program.

Homecoming & revival

New Hope Baptist Church will have Homecoming on Sun., Nov. 5 at 11 a.m. with Dr. Al Wright. Special music will be by Barbara Boddie. Dinner on the ground will follow, you are asked to bring your favorite dishes to share with others for this great New Hope tradition.

Fall revival will follow on Mon., Tues., and Wed. nights at 7 p.m. with Dr. Wright preaching and Barbara Boddie leading the music. Plan for a great day at Homecoming and a great revival to follow.
