Tired of restrictions and high taxes
TO THE EDITOR
We have read, and totally agree, with the letter to the editor written by Pamela Partridge Jordan that appeared in the November 23 The Lincoln Journal. She is repeating what we ourselves said in a letter in October.
The obvious intent of the elected officials in Lincoln County is to have the county become a part-time home to newcomers with money. That way, many of the usual services won't be needed and the tax money will be collected, but not used.
With all the new rules and restrictions concerning no mobile homes, certain size new homes, restricted use of other land, etc., its very clear the intentions are to make it impossible
for the average person to live here. The taxes are higher than on comparable homes in Columbia County! One elderly citizen recently stated that she was afraid she would have to start selling her farmland just to pay the taxes on her home.
The citizens of Lincoln County have got to stand up and stop this. Call your commissioners and let them know how you feel about the restrictions and the high taxes. Come to the board of commissioner meetings and make your voices heard. The next meeting is Thursday night, December 14 at 7:00 p.m. in the courthouse. We will be there! Come and join us! Together we can make a difference.
