Eugenia Harrison promoted to Dep. Warden in Milledgeville
EUGENIA HARRISON Eugenia Harrison was recently promoted to Deputy Warden at the Men's State Prison in Milledgeville, Ga. Ms. Harrison began her career with the Department of Corrections as a counselor and she worked her way up through the ranks, including promotions to chief counselor and then her most recent position as deputy warden.
"I am very excited about the position. I am energetic, eager and willing to learn all I can so I can do a fantastic job for the people of the State of Georgia," Ms. Harrison said. "My motto has always been 'service before self' and I will continue to work and serve as deputy warden."
As the deputy warden, Ms. Harrison will help oversee the supervision of both inmates and staff at the state prison. During her 13-year career with the Georgia Department of Corrections, she has received several awards and honors for her distinguished service and was named Employee of the Quarter in 1999, 2000, 2002 and 2004, a prestigious award given to employees for high standards and ethics in the workplace. She works on several committees within the department and volunteers with the United Way and the Boys and Girls Club. She has received numerous awards for contributions in the State Charitable Contributions Program.
A graduate of Savannah State University, she received her master's degree from Troy State University.
Ms. Harrison, a native of Lincolnton, Ga., is the mother of Shondez Harrison. She is the daughter of Gladys Harrison and the late Leonard Harrison, and the granddaughter of B.F. and Bessie Jones, all of Lincolnton.
The Department of Corrections is the fifth largest prison system in the United States and is responsible for supervising over 48,000 state prisoners and 135,000 probationers. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with nearly 15,000 employees.
