Chief Justice issues report on recent departmental activities

An activity report was recently released by the Lincolnton Police Department.

According to Chief Jim Justice, the following arrests were made in the city:

Weems Hawes, 47, of Lincolnton, charged with one count of armed robbery.

Adrian Reid, 22, of Lincolnton, charged with one count of theft by taking.

Roger Paul Johnson, 23, of Washington, charged with theft by taking and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.

Jessie Meaders, 17, of Lincolnton, charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor, giving false information, and obstruction of a police officer.

Moving on to other matters, Chief Justice noted that the following incidents occurred recently in the city:

Andrea Leverett reported that a 1989 Honda Accord was stolen from an address on Joan Way. The car was recovered the next day on Old Petersburg Road. No charges were filed.

Charles Lockhart reported that a $1,700 diamond ring was stolen from his residence on the Watson Street Extension.

Ike Robinson reported that an unknown person(s) pried open the door to the storage shed located behind his residence on Lumber Street. No items were missing.

Valorie Driggers reported that several items were taken from a rental property on Elam Heights.

Donna Turner reported that front window on the driver's side of her 2003 Ford Expedition was damaged while the vehicle was parked at LCHS. Nothing was reported missing.

Sandrina Watkins reported that an unknown person(s) stole her Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme from an address on Joan Way. The vehicle, valued at $3,500, was found the next day, overturned in a ditch on Old Petersburg Road.

Christopher Eby reported that an unknown person(s) stole a bundle of six-inch PVC pipe, valued at $2,000, from the vicinity of the water tower on S. Washington Street.

Cheryl Hunnicutt reported that all four of the tires on her 1998

Oldsmobile Cutlass were slashed while the vehicle was parked in front of her residence on Moss Street.

Tom Young of McCutcheon Heating & Air reported that an unknown person(s) removed tools from work trucks parked in a fenced-in area at the company headquarters on White Rock Road. The tools were later discovered lying on the ground. Nothing was reported missing.

The majority of the above incidents are currently under investigation, said Chief Justice. Anyone having any information about these crimes is asked to call the police department at 706- 359-4121.
